Thoughts on room only discounts at POFQ?

DH & I booked French Quarter, King room, for Dec 4-12 months ago, before any discounts; we are eligible for AAA, Disney Visa & Passholder. Have been checking periodically and still nothing available for the reservation we have. We stayed at POP in March and are thinking of going back there since the passholder discount makes POP half of POFQ. Downside to POP is no guarantee of king bed; when we stayed in March, we had two rooms, both requested king beds and both got double beds. ??should I switch to POP now? or keep trying for a discount at French Quarter? Would appreciate your thoughts!

From what I was told by a booking CM, discounts at POFQ are usually very small (5%) and rare. She told me that FQ is so small that Disney rarely needs to offer a discount to fill the rooms. After 9-11 when people were not traveling as much we got great discounts at POFQ. We loved staying there. Now we go to the CSR to get a good room discount. We like it there too.:)

I agree with the pp that POFQ is a popular resort and fills up quickly, even without discounts. Even when there are discounts, POFQ is usually very minimal like the pp stated. If a king room is important, I'd keep what you have.

Have you looked at other booking options for discounts? I was looking for a room for one night before our 5 night stay at WL (decided to fly in a day before and did not want to mess up RO discount that allowed us to do CL at WL). Anyway, no luck at POFQ through Disney. I booked POFQ garden view for the Sun. nite of your stay for a discounted price of $168 (incl. tax) through American Express travel. Don't know about what discounts available for whole week or bed type (we didn't care), but thought it was worth a mention. If you did RO not a problem to cancel your current ressie if you can get the discount elsewhere, otherwise $200 deposit might be an issue.

The deposit for a RO is not $200 - that's for a package. The deposit for a RO is one night's fee.

OP, did you call a AAA travel agent? They may be able to get you at least the AAA discount.
