Thoughts on PVB stay this weekend -

It was a dream come true to stay there. I am going to sound completely boring because all I'm going to say is LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT to everything. A few thoughts -
  • First, I had crazy magic skills at check-in. Our room was ready in the morning! And not just any room - third floor perfectly placed lake view - Moorea 3020. Thank you to whoever left so early or never checked in the night before. Cheers! I'll buy you a Lapu Lapu.
  • The view was incredible - castle and Space Mountain seemed like the centre of the post card view.
  • It was so spectacular, to me, I felt like I was five years old not just when I first saw it but every single time I walked into the room - heck even when I walked out of the washroom - I was bewildered each and every time
  • The Oasis pool area is wonderfully designed - even had a cabana for a bit
  • The distance to the lobby - nothing to talk about in my opinion (especially if you exit lobby side of Moorea, cut through entrance of Tokelau (?) and cut through the Oasis pool - I enjoy finding new routes for everything)
  • The resort is beyond relaxing - I was only there for an extended weekend and it felt like a week
  • I know I might be in the minority but I think the bungalows are a nice addition to the shoreline of the Polynesian. The curvature of the design is a post card view and they give the eye perspective looking out - to the castle, Space Mountain, the boats - to everything
  • Yes, I understand that I might not feel the same about the bungalows if I was staying on the first floor
  • One day I was looking out on my balcony thinking "next stay I would like a monorail view - maybe at VGF or BLT" and I looked to my right and there was the monorail view! Right there. The upper floor lake views have so many sights to take in - the Grand Floridian, the boats, the monorail, the fireworks
  • I slept on the murphy bed under the tv and had great sleeps and I'm tall
  • Did the slide over at the main pool many a time and when you tell a child to tell you when it goes green for speed, you get six or seven all hovering around the light for you! Too funny. Those kids are too entertaining while waiting for your turn
I'm sure I could go on and on but that is it for now, Had the most wonderful time. I can't even explain how happy I was to be there.

We love Poly.

As a rule, I'm opposed to buying developer points. It's my cardinal timeshare rule. I broke it for a guaranteed week Poly Lake View.

I agree! We spent two nights at Poly Villas before our Fantasy cruise. We were surprised how much we enjoyed the resort. There is an addicting sense of relaxation that overcomes you after a while. We will definitely be back, especially for nonpark trips.

We stayed there for 4 nights just about a year ago....we also loved it! It was DH and myself with our 2 teens (14 & 17). We primarily stay in 1+ BRs, but were crunched for points this trip. Anyway, there was comfortable space for all of us in a PVB studio! Beds for both teens and the 2 bathrooms made prep-time a breeze for all of us! The Oasis pool was open, but slated to be closed the following week to start the refurb (which just re-opened last month).

We loved the grounds - all the colorful flowers and Hawaiian feel. Loved the proximity to VGF (able to walk there on the shoreline). It was just a good trip, all around!

ETA: by the way...love your picture/view!!! :D

We stayed there for two days last May before we switched to a GV at BLT with the rest of our family and we loved every moment of Poly. Myself, DW, and DD(2) stayed there and it nice. We have a second child now and we are trying to go again maybe next May. We have a bigger trip planned in Dec with in laws so we are staying at a 2BR at Jambo. I do get spoiled with the kitchen and Washer/Dryer in a 1 bedroom so I don't know how much I will miss them if we do a week long trip at Poly. But I need to work on doing better on points and I really loved Poly so I can easily overlook the missing stuff to be right there.

What a beautiful shot.

I would love a fixed week there, lucky you. I'm going to go buy a lottery ticket! I will buy one there and at the VGF.

Perfectly said on the bold. It really does.

Like you, I can't wait to go back.

Isn't it great to be able to walk to VGF. I added an extra night at the beginning of the trip so that I could go to DAH at the MK. I said I wasn't going to book it unless I got BLT. So hours after saying that, 48 hours before arrival, voila there was BLT. Booked it. I woke up the next morning, a day before arrival, and there was the VGF so I cancelled BLT and booked that. I was thrilled for two reasons. I adore VGF and I could walk my luggage over to the Polynesian.

Small things make me happy! Well in my mind anyway, it was quite the humid walk with luggage. :rolleyes1

That picture above shows the scope of the view. I was obsessed with the Grand Floridian in the background. And was sitting with a drink out at the beach - out by the TTC (great little spot to relax) - and ran to get my camera when I saw the beautiful pink sky. Unfortunately I missed the timing a bit, but happy to get that shot.

Here is my actual straight on view -----

This one showing my fascination with the curvature of the bungalows -

We were on the 1st floor and we loved it too!

Robin, thanks for posting. I am so very happy to hear that.

I spent some time sitting down by the first floor, with a Lapu Lapu in my hand :cloud9:, looking out. It was so very peaceful. I was taking in the number of people sitting out on their patio. It's nice to have the clear view as the balcony is so high it blocks a lot when sitting.

I understand, especially with children. It is nice to have the washer and dryer right there.

But on the bold, that is exactly how I feel. I have said since my first stay at VGF - I would choose that studio over a one bedroom in most of the DVC resorts. I can most definitely say that about PVB now. Easy choice for me.

I also felt the width of the room. It made a difference for me for sure.

The only negative for me is that I felt a dampness at night and it made me wonder about the holidays there. I go many times over the Christmas/NYE holidays. And there is NOTHING like the cold in the south. Nothing. I know most think what is she talking about (I live in Toronto). But it is wicked to me. Seeps into your bones/body. It can be twenty degrees colder up north and easier to take. And I love winter and rarely get cold. So I did wonder about the insulation in the longhouses.

But give me the week and I'll happily experiment during that time!

Here is my favourite photo from a lovely short stay ---

My iPhone photos are not as nice as yours. We did get visitors on the ground floor :).

Thanks so much Robin! Great shots. Exactly what I wanted to see, since so many have been complaining about the first floor. The fireworks are such an interesting perspective above the bungalows, eh? I was thinking that since I scored such an exceptional room that other bookings might be a let down but like I said earlier, I appreciate that the first floor gives such a wide open view to the resort. Very happy to hear from someone that loved this spot. I certainly loved sitting down in that area.

One of my signature photos is from the Polynesian. Well before the lovely higher-ups decided to take out the artwork for some kind of tacky promotional material. I will now think that she's looking in her glass ball seeing my future PVB and VGF points!:thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Thanks Bobbi.

I was just checking out the horrific US dollar exchange on my credit card from last week, and somehow I'm still smiling. :rotfl: Just paid it off and moved on. But boy does it make choices at WDW a little more difficult.

Yes on the pictures. I come on to sigh at Robin's fireworks, wishing I was there.

What a lovely thing to say. Thank you. It makes me happy too.

Jealous of your points.

Yes it is! We'll be staying in a lake view studio with our two boys.

Fantastic. What a great time you're going to have. Enjoy!

We were in the same room May 8 to 15!

Well, you scored. :cheer2:

Fun time?

Oh and I ordered the Twilight Feast, really an 'Ohana meal, just before Wishes my first night at the Polynesian. There were two of us, we only ordered one meal. I swear it could have fed three people. I also did room service for breakfast one morning.

In all my WDW stays I have never used room service. Both were lovely. Could get very used to that, especially with that view.

Yes! I couldn't believe when I walked in and saw that view! My friends were on later flights, I couldn't wait to text them a picture! Our Poly dates were May 8 to 12, then we moved to AoA for 3 nights. I had stayed at the Poly about 20 years ago and wasn't really impressed but this time I really liked it!
