We have never been to the Xmas party. Last time we were at Disney was 2012. We are taking our 3 teenagers to Universal Dec 16-19. I was thinking of surprising my girls with the Xmas party but it will cost $500+ Just mentioned it to my husband and he is entertaining the thought:) What can you tell me about the party which will either convince me to go or not to go?? I appreciate all your insight if you have been to MVMCP before:)

I love the Christmas Party! That is a lot of money, though. It really depends on your ability to spend on "extras", but it is one of the most magical times of the year at DW, IMHO.

We are all adult family now. While I've done the party with partial family, we all did it in 2014. DD was in DCP so we went down for a week your same time frame to have our Christmas with her. It was our "Christmas Day". Opened gifts around the 7 ft tree I brought :-) late lunch at Grand Floridian Cafe, photos by tree and Gingerbread House then the party where DS1 wore a Santa shirt/hat and the rest of us wore Elf shirts/hats. WE had a great time because we made it our holiday, we visited characters getting family photos, we loved the parade, enjoyed the snow on Main Street and Holiday Wishes. We rode rides but it really was about us enjoying something festive together.

NOW with the new prices, I'm struggling even going to the MNSSHP which is WAY better in my opinion. The park looks completely different then the Christmas party which looks the same except for some snow. It really depends. I think if you are hoping the party will be something really special/different and just provide all the fuzzies for you, it might disappoint. If you are willing to make it a party yourself, it can be really fun. It is not a party I would attend on a regular basis like the Halloween Party but if you have the budget and go in at 4 pm, it does give you a Disney day with some party fun.

We have never seen MK decorated for Christmas so seeing the decorations and the parade/Holiday Wishes appeals to me. We also really miss going to DW:( We haven't planned a DW trip these last few years because our one daughter went on her senior trip to Disney in 2015, my second daughter goes this coming March and the last the following year. We have been to the Halloween party when our kids were younger and really enjoyed it. Didn't do a whole lot of the trick or treating, but the kids did dress up and did the rides ALL night!!

If you haven't seen it for Christmas then it will be a treat. All the Main Street decor, the giant tree in Town Square. The parties have always been a value for time in MK (new prices ehh), some trips DH only joins us a few days and we do parties with him. If you can swing it, can be a real treat.

My husband and I went last year and we LOVED it. We can't wait for our kids to be old enough to take them.

For me the biggest thing was seeing it snow in FL. I know I know lame. I am originally from Maryland and lived in FL for several years and heading back soon so I don't get to see snow that often when living in FL. Yes it is bubbles but it is just so "magical" to stand on main street and see it snow while you are in shorts and a sweatshirt.
