I spent today, 8/18/02 with Cindy B and her family at IOA. Here's just a few observations:
1.) It was hot! A Popeye ride was a good cool-down, although I put on a poncho. I wasn't driving home all wet.
2.) I finally got to ride Pterandon Flyers. The gates opened at 8:45 and we bee-lined to Spider-Man. Afterwards, we went to Jurassic Park to ride Pterandon Flyers. We got there at around 9:15. The posted wait was 0 minutes, but it was actually 5. About 8 people were ahead of us. Cindy B had kids short enough for the ride, so I did "borrow a kid."
Actually, I could have rode without a kid. I saw two adults riding without kids. Cindy B's DH rode alone.
As for the ride, it isn't fast and it is over rather fast. The scary part comes with the swinging. The come close to trees and branches. Hold onto the grab bars! Still, I'm glad I finally got to ride it, but I wouldn't rush to ride it again unless I could borrow a kid again. I rode it for the credit!
The exit for the ride is pretty neat. You walk through amber mines. You walk on wooden bridges over pits of bubbly amber.
We rode JPRA and wandered around Camp Jurassic. At 10:20, the wait was 10 minutes. A group of adults tried to ride on their own, but the ride op foo-fooed them away.
3.) We didn't eat at Mythos, but we ate at the Enchanted Oak Restaurant. I had the ribs and chicken combo platter. The food was so good and the servings were huge! The ribs and chicken were so juicy. The ribs were a lot better than the ones at BGT and Sea World. They also give you like 10,000 fries and a cob of corn. I did check out the Mythos menu and they changed it once again. The balsamic chicken is still there.
4.) The Hulk was down all day, but riding Pterandon Flyers made up for it.
Cindy B's family had to leave around 3 pm. The kids were tiring out and were falling asleep. It was time for a hotel nap and a dip in the pool. It's good that they did this. I've seen kids wander around the park all day. They either cry for mercy or their parents yell at them.
