Thoughts on Glow Fest

While I understand the worry and concern from a few of you, I like the energy and change of pace glow fest brings. Maybe they can go with only one drink stand, switch the music up a bit and bring in some characters....popcorn::

To me, I think that it does not fit very well with the image that they are trying to change DCA into, with all of the new attractions, etc. coming to the park. While it may seem interesting and entertaining, and it appears that the event has been well received, I am not exactly sure that Walt would have liked having something like that in his park. Sure, it keeps people there and entertained, but I think that they could have came up with something a little better, IMO.

For us, we were not interested in the event at all. It was too loud, and to many people drinking. I mean, there are what 3 or 4 bars set up in that small area? It all just seemed a little over the top for my tastes. And FWIW, I have an occasional drink, enjoy dancing and clubs, but it just doesn't fit into the Disney image I guess. I would much rather fill my time riding rides, or watching entertaining shows while at DLR.

But..... that's just my opinion. :)

I haven't seen it yet, but I was thinking pretty much the same thing. Not that I mind being able to get a glass of wine (or even two) at DCA or in DTD. It's a nice way to end the evening when we don't need to worry about a DD. But drinking and going on rides is just not conducive to a good time. Icky stomach waiting to happen! And drinking more than a glass or so and hanging out with my kids does not seem terribly family friendly.

I'm not a fan of how the area looks during the day with all the neon facades parked all over the place. I think the fact that it's a program that has been put together by an outside company will spur on Disney's entertainment division to come up with something much more fitting for the theme of the area and still lots of fun.

I didn't have a big problem with the alcohol, but I do think it's weird to sell it in the "street" vs. an enclosed bar area, but personally I didn't care for it.
I thought the colors of the pillars and stages were kind of ugly. I think it really detracted from the theme of the Hollywood Backlot area. I love the Disney details and it took away from that for me.
The music was not my cup of tea at all. I can't stand techno music. My DD17 didn't like it at all either so it wasn't an age thing, but a "taste" thing. If they were playing decent rock and roll and toned down the obnoxious colors I might of enjoyed it more.

I didn't see the actual parade but walked through Glow Fest with the kids. I felt like I was in a club. It was a fun atmosphere but we didn't have time to stick around.

We LOVED glow fest!!! We had DD7 and DD8 dancing for hours! The girls loved seeing themselves projected on the "big screen" (the side of the Hyperion Theater). The music was kid friendly and very upbeat. We saw lots of Cast Members but no drunk people. The dancers were amazing and talented and were definitely doing only "PG" dancing. (No hip thrusting etc. :scared1:) We loved the opportunity to dance and be silly with our kids. What other place can you do that??? The line dancing was hysterical (especially watching the less experienced dancers). The Bollywood dancing was fun to watch. Honestly, I think the prices of the drinks would curb too much over indulgence. :confused3 I felt MUCH more comfortable dancing at Glow Fest with my kids inside DCA than at the Sorcerer stand in Downtown Disney. We for one, are total fans!! :cool1:

i loved Glow Fest! that has to be the funnest dance party ever!! nice an family oriented!! loved it
