Thoughts on contract with holding points

Looking at a contract with holding points. The points would expire before we could use them and with the present situation I would think transferring them or renting them out would be tough. Saratoga Springs, holding points would expire Jan 31, 2021.

Run away from a contract with holding points? Or try to get it cheap?

I guess it really depends on when you want to travel. If you know you are going to stay there before they expire, then you are ok.

Personally I stay 3 weeks January every other year, so that would work for me. Its really up to you whether it works.

If the rest of the contract meets your criteria, just make your offer assuming no value for the holding points.
Agreed. But I would go one further. If you are not offering to pay the MF associated with the points, then I just ignore them and offer like they did not exist. If the seller expects you to reimburse (pay) them for the MF associated with the points in holding, then I would view them as having negative value. In general you can only "count" on using holding points at 1BR and maybe dedicated 2BR during Summer at the bigger resorts (SSR, OKW and maybe Kidani). And with the resorts being closed for 2.5+ months and most people not losing their points I fear availability will get worse for the next few years. But if that availability (resort, villa type, and season) meet your travel expectations and needs, then the points do have some value.
