Thoughts on Bungalows?

Ok. So, between Covid in 2020, not traveling much in 2021, and recently buying a Riviera contract, we find ourselves with a good amount of points for our December 2021 trip.
We will be using our banked 2020 Riviera points to spend half our trip on a 2 bedroom villa. We have used our banked 2020 Poly points to book 2 studios for the other half of our trip (bringing my mom, so we’re hoping for connecting rooms so the kids can spread out between the two rooms).

Technically, we could cancel those 2 studios and use those 2020 Poly points, along with our 2021 Poly points and 2021 Riviera points and spend half the trip in a bungalow instead (if available at the 7 month mark). While part of me wants to do it, the other part of me thinks that is insane to basically triple or quadruple the points we’d need just to move from 2 studios to a bungalow.

If you have stayed, did they blow you away? I’m willing to do it if it’s amazing experience. However, if it’s only so-so, I think I’d rather keep my 2021 points and consider a spring break trip in 2022....

I’d pick a cabin at CCV over the bungalow. We toured both and the cabin was nicer in my opinion. Loved the jacuzzi on the porch and it was screened in. The Poly bungalow has a weird little “pool” on their deck. My kids said “what good is that little pool you can’t have fun in that” 🤣

I don't think it would be worth it to guzzle so many points that could be used for a much better experience. The bungalows look nice enough, but truly when I'm at Disney most of the time is spent out of the room. I would rather have more nights in a different room. I can't believe how point expensive those bungalows are. Not even close to worth it... IMHO.
I say keep the points and have another vacation to plan with the family.

I’ve stayed in the bungalows every year since they became available. I always do a week in august and enjoy the private pool with how hot it is outside. I go to Disney several times a year and spend more time in my room for down time then others may. If your in the park all day long it may not be worth it. All in all do the bungalows blow me away? For the price/ points not really, but I really like the privacy and have a good chunk of points to use. If you have the points to burn I’d say go for it, if not save them for another trip. 🙂

We did a trip last Oct that was a split stay between a cabin and a bungalow (Covid point surge too). Hands down the cabin won us over more. That is hard for me to say because the Poly is one of my favorite resorts. But I'm good with a studio there. I am glad we checked the bungalow box and I think every one who can should give a go at least once. But, given the choice I'll go with a cabin every time going forward.

We have stayed both(back when you could get rentals for 10 dollars a point on Davids!) and it's true the CCV Cabins are much nicer inside, just by order of being newer. But there is NOTHING like looking over 7 Seas Lagoon from your balcony at a lit up Cinderellas Castle. It will always be one of my top 5 vacation memories ever and to me is the epitome of that Disney "feeling".

Sometimes it’s worth splurging in life if you can swing it. I like the idea of either the bungalow or cabin but I’d try to offset the expense by adding another day or two in the RIV 2BR first. Then just have the last couple nights in the point heavy room. Go out with a BANG!

How many nights is your trip?

We did go when the experience was a bit more limited so that could have weighed in on my opinion. We were only steps away from Geyser Point at CCV and anything outside of the room was a decent jaunt away from the bungalow. But we did have a bottle of wine and a great view of the castle at our bungalow now that you mention it. I think if EWP were running it could also be a completely different experience. I may have just talked myself into a bungalow again. :)

Both the cabins and bungalows are nice. Very nice.

I find the bungalows more "magical", but being in a cabin seems more like you are not at Disney and in some remote location.

My preference is a bungalow during the summer and cabin in winter. (The bungalow pools are heated somewhat, but the cabins have true hot tubs).

That's new because they weren't when they opened.

I've stayed the bungalows several times, all since ~2017. Each time, they have been heated. They are by no means hot tubs, but they are heated. You can feel the warmth coming from the returns.

I don’t think they are either. My most recent stay was August 2020. I always find them a little cold first thing in the morning and at night.

I suppose it's possible that they are seasonally heated. We last stayed in one December 2019 and they were heated. We are staying in a bungalow in 11 days and I'll report back.

A Cast Member recently gave us a tour of a CCV cabin.

He said the plunge pools at the CCV cabins are heated, the ones at PVB are not.

Now I'm wondering if it's a seasonal thing. Before our first bungalow stay, I had read here that the plunge pools are not heated at Poly, but they have always been heated when we go. Though we have never stayed in one during the summer. And they are not heated nearly as much as the CCV hot tubs... they were pretty comparable to the pools on property. But the CCV hot tubs are warm/hot. Very different temps.

Anyway, I will post an update in 11 days.

We spent a week in a bungalow 3 years ago and while it was nice I wasn’t wowed. The boat horns were loud and I just didn’t love it as much as I thought I would. One and done for us

Yes I’d love to know! I stay every August and never thought they were unless I just didn’t realize. I guess when you’re sunburnt it can be hard to tell 😂
