Thoughts on best transportation to Universal/IOA

We are staying at CSR but want to do a one-dayer at Universal/IOA...does anyone have a recommendation or something that has worked well for them as far as transportation, since we will not have a rental car? How about taxi vs. town car vs. shuttle bus? Frankly, I'd rather pay the extra$ for our own driver than sharing a shuttle and wasting a lot of time going to a bunch of different resorts - and only because we have a short trip planned so every minute counts!!! Thanks for your help!

Also, do a search about this. I know that I read a thread about this when I was trying to figure out how to get to and from Universal. I finally decided to rent a car to get to and from the airport and to get back and forth to Universal (but I'm going to Universal two days). As it turns out I think that my sister is going to come down and stay with Jake and me. If so she'll have her car and I won't need the rental car. I hope, I hope...

Mears is $12 a person round trip. A taxi is about $30 one-way. Not sure on how much a towncar is, but I am guessing it will be about 50 or more for the round trip.

Taxi or towncar would work best since you have absolute control over the times that you are picked up.

We used Mears last year from the Boardwalk over to Universal. You're limited as to when they pick you up from your hotel, and you have to call 1 hour ahead of time to come back. Also I believe, that say you call at 12:30 to be picked up at 1:30. If 1:30 isn't one of their "normal pick up times" you have to wait until say, 2:00 when they normally pick up. The price was right but I'd rather be able to leave when I want to leave.
