Thoughts on 1900 PF and GG

We're going in September (not for free dining, but during free dining), and I want to have my ADRs squared away so I can be on the phone as soon as my window opens.

I always try to book CP or CRT before park opening on our first day, especially if we have newbies with us, so they can see an empty Main Street U.S.A. They may not always appreciate it, but I love it!

I was thinking about 1900 PF and GG for a couple of fun character dinners.

It will be me, my mom, my grandparents, DS(will be)4 and DNiece(will be)7. My aunt and her 3 year old daughter may also be joining us.

How's the food? Character interaction?

I also welcome suggestions for other character meals. This is our first (and probably only) time to visit in the summer heat (or as a friend put it..."surface of the sun hot"), so I am planning to do as much of our character time indoors as possible. We've eaten at CRT, Cape May, CM, CP and 'Ohana. Both kids love all characters (DS is a Pixar and Mickey fanatic but loves to flirt with his princesses and DNiece is a princess but loves the classics).

Thanks for any and all help!!

We haven't done the dinner at 1900 PF, so I can't speak to that.

Garden Grill used to be one of our faves, then they changed the menu, then they changed it back to some shell of its former self. The food is eh .. but the character interaction is great. And they bring the food to you, which is nice. Not as much variety as a buffet, food wise.

I heard if you book a later sitting at GG that the characters spend more time with you as, typically, the restaurant won't be as crowded. Of course, that may not be the case during free dining.

So, whadya think? Worth a try?

We (DH, DD 12, DS 9, DD 7 DS 4 & me) really enjoyed the dinner at 1900 PF. We thought it was one of the better buffets food wise and there was a lot of variety.

The characters were great! The step sisters and Lady Tremaine (sp?) were a lot of fun. Cinderella was very lovely and kind and Prince Charming was extremely charming. We all really enjoyed both the characters and the meal and plan to go again this year.

Hey, wait a minute...am I on the J&K thread right now or the restaurant boards! Madge, I'd know that :upsidedow anywhere!

We LOVE 1900 PF! Dinner here is better than breakfast in my opinion. I think this is one of the best character interaction meals!:thumbsup2 Cinderella is sweet and beautiful, Prince Charming is charming, Lady Tremaine is stiff and snooty and the step-sisters are AWESOME! They steal the show and are hilarious! This past Feb. we ate dinner here twice and it was so much fun. Part way during the meal, Prince Charming waltzes with Cinderella in the middle of the restaurant and then the step-sisters usually start to dance too! Really fun stuff. The food is buffet style and we thought it was really yummy! I'd give it a try for dinner.:thumbsup2

Never been to Garden Grill so I can't comment! Sorry!:goodvibes

Seriously...it's that hot!! I am not exaggerating a bit!

We went to 1900 PF for dinner two years ago before the Step Sisters were there. I thought the food was yummy. We were there with my BFF's 8 year old and she was totally in love with Prince Charming and Cinderella :lovestruc. It was so cute, when she saw the Prince coming she quickly fixed her hair and checked to make sure her face was clean for him...I have a picture of her primping in the mirror, it's a classic! :rotfl:

I would go back to PF in a heartbeat with the step sisters there...they are a riot!

Definitely worth it to do the dinner at 1900 PF! The characters alone are reason enough to go back. There is so much interaction and engagment of the children, even my 11 year old nephew, who thought he was going to hate it, had a great time! The step sisters are hilarious! My daughter was wearing a Cinderella gown and they made her cover the picture of Cinderella while they took pictures with her! LOL! :rotfl:

Try to get one of the first seatings if you can, then you are there as they make the announcements of everyone!
