Thoughts on 1900 Park Fare, please?

We're going again to WDW in late September using the free dining plan. We were plotting out our mode of attack (ah... all those new food pics for me to take ;) ) and found an empty slot for dinner, table service in or around MK.

So, after wracking our collective brainpowers (which isn't saying much)... we decided to try 1900 Park Fare for dinner at GF. The kids aren't too happy about that (they're boys, need I say more?) but hey, we have to try all the restaurants of Disney at least once, right? right?

So, anyway... back to the main question... what do you guys think of the food at PF? Quality/quantity/taste? Is it comparable to say Chef Mickey's or Cape May? I don't really care about the character interaction cause the kids are going to cringe anyway when they see Cinderella, so I'm more interested in the food. How would you rate the food here?

Thanks.

We just got back and had breakfast there. 1900 was the most disappointing.

A) In my opinion the room was like a roadside buffet place. The wallpaper was vertical with flowers which just turned me off, it was not elegant but cheap looking. Where you get the food is off in a nook and can be crowded.

B) The decor in general is nothing. From my view one organ above the entrance and that is it. No windows to overlook the property.

Chef Mickeys was easier to get the food and I did not feel closed in.

I would not do 1900 ever, for anything.

Hope this helps. But again one opinion, but trust me don't go there.

How about the dinner? We have that one booked but with the new child menu issues I may cancel this one unless it is really good. My 11 year old will be charged $27 for this buffet!

we had breakfast and dinner at 1900 Park Fare, and loved both. the food was excellent. DH loved the prime rib at dinner. don't remember the wallpaper though, but i don't think that would change my opinion. LOL we also had dinner at Chef Mickey, and 1900's food was, in our opinion, much better. of couse everyone has a different opinion!!

have fun!

We had dinner at 1900 Park Fare and the food was really good. A bit more upscale than most of your Disney buffets and a wide variety of everything. The kids buffet section also had a very large variety.

Make that two opinions.

I agree. It's nothing special. Maybe I expected too much from all of the rave reviews I'd read but the food was 'typical' breakfast fare and yes, I did feel "closed in." I'd pick Chef Mickey's any day of the week compared to 1900 Park Fare.

YUCK! We just got back and we did the dinner and honestly it SUCKED! The food was horrible and it was a huge waste of time and money. I will never go back there again.

As far as Dinners go, 1900 Park Fare is one not to be missed! I have eaten there about 5 times and it gets better everytime I go back. I would much rather eat there so my DS can see Cindy and Prince Charming. They really spend a good amount of time at the table to talk and take pictures and sign autographs.

The food is amazing. The selection is wonderful and the Prime Rib is awesome. The kiddie section is great too!

Never tried it for breakfast just for dinner but it is worth every penny.

Just my two cents

We did the dinner in December for my niece's birthday. What a nightmare. The place was pure chaos. Poor service. The food was not the worst, but not worth venturing there again.

Wow! People either love it or hate it. We were planning to go for our Oct. trip as well, but now I'm not so sure!

We ate dinner at 1900 PF 2 weeks ago. Had been there about 3 years ago and had a so-so meal but it was because we were in a small back room and there was a large party that had reserved 4 tables and when we got there people were only at one and it is kind of "close" in there and we couldn't help but hear that the man was mad the rest of the group hadn't shown up, then part did and the waitress kept asking where the rest of the party was and that she couldn't hold the other 2 tables for much longer, and then they all started bickering, a couple of the men started drinking more heavily and then when the final group (women and kids who had been shopping and lost track of time) got there I thought all knives needed to be cleared from the room. Tense to say the least and it wasn't fun to be near even though we tried to ignore it. This trip WE were with a big group (all went together no need for knives to be put away) and the teens loved the nuggets and pb&j Uncrustables. Glad they enjoyed it but $27.99 is a bit much for nuggets and Uncrustables. The food is a bit "different" here. All in all it was fine but for one thing I don't like the way it's set up. They have stations here and there and you're not sure which way to turn for what and can get boxed into a corner by others who don't know what is where either. And finally, I'm sorry, but Chef Mickey's has them beat on desserts. Just my thoughts and opinions though.

We had dinner at 1900 at the end of May and absolutely LOVED it. My 2.5 yo dd just glowed when Cinderella approached. I can't say that ds 4 (almost 5) was too interested in the princess or Prince Charming, but he enjoyed seeing the mice and ate WAY more food than he did at any other time. Dh and I enjoy eating out at nicer restaurants. Buffets are not usually our style at all, but we thought the food here was exceptionally good. This restaurant also had a greater variety for kids than I saw at any of the other WDW restaurants. Still, I don't think I'd advise dining here with boys who aren't interested. Our 12 (almost 13) yo ds chose to grab a bite at the Mara and head to DQ rather than accompany us. (Admittedly, he was a little jealous when he saw the pictures of our meal later!!)

We had dinner there in middle of May, and it was very good. It did seem a little bit more upscale than the other character meals.

Upscale...how so? That's what the reviews kept saying so I really did expect it to be upscale but when we got there, it just seemed like another buffet to me. JMO :flower:

I did not realize that an 11yoa would have to pay that much. I thought they were still able to pay children's prices????
