DW and I arrived around 7:30 at MCO. We were using ME for the first time, so we bypassed luggage, zipped right onto a bus and headed off for AKL. After a quick stop at Jambo we arrived at Kidani. Check-in was quick and painless. Then we headed for our room. It was in the next to last bead on the north side hallway on the 2nd floor. I hate to say this b/c I generally make fun of others that do, but it was a long walk. Luggage arrived at 11:30, 4 hours after we arrived. No biggie, but I was waiting for PJs and stuff to get ready for bed. The 2BR savannah view we had was great. Loved the room. Plenty of room for our guests, which included 2 teens. The teens stayed in the living room, opting to pull out the chair and couch so they could stay up late while the adults took advantage of the beds. They stayed 2 nights with us then had to leave to get back to school nearby. Just some random thoughts for the week:

1. Loved the decor in Kidani, rooms as well as throughout the resort.
2. Ran to the Super Target around the corner, nice place for groceries, but it closed early on Sunday. I think we will use delivery service next time.
3. I am from Indy, and it was cold except for one day. First time in 10 years in January I did not wear shorts in WDW.
4. I think the spot to request would be 2nd savannah near lobby. Great views from there. Our room was far and the view was so so. We saw plenty of antelope type animals, but that was about it. The border fence was right there. 2nd floor was a great height though.
5. Fitness center was very nice, pool looks awesome, even though we did not use it.
6. Buses were great. Never really waited longer than 10 min.
7. Nice walk to Jambo on the path. It did not bother us. If you are a dad carrying two trays of breakfast items back to the room, that could be tough. I would just stock up the kitchen with breakfast stuff instead of walking to Mara everyday.
8. We have rented a car for 10 years. ME was so great, we may not do it again. Yeah, we arrived later on a Sunday, but still it was good service. ME combined with resort airline check-in was awesome. Boarding passes dropped to the room was great.
9. Ordered room service from Sanaa, great food. Try the Tomato soup.

Well, that's about it. I think we will stay at Kidani whenever we go back to AKL, which may be next year since we had such a great time there. Any questions let me know.

:thumbsup2 Thanks...we are trying a std. view studio at Kidani over spring break in March. I am especially worried about missing the convenience of the Mara from the pool!! We usually do breakfasts in our room so that won't be an issue. We started using Garden Grocer for small grocery deliveries - SOO convenient. We usually go to Boma at least once on our trips but booked Sanaa this time since we'll be right there. I hope it lives up to the hype! We tried Jiko one time rather than Boma and I thought it was over-rated for the price. We preferred the wide variety at Boma for the money. I didn't realize you get get room service from Sanaa!! We have always loved Jambo House and are anxious to try Kidani. We always use DME - I can't imagine spending money on a rental car with such a great (free) service.

Thanks for the review! I'm happy to call Kidani my home resort & it helps to hear great reviews.

Those halls seem to be infinite due to the curve - I think they might be a bit more manageable mentally if we could at least see the end. How many more months it will be before the complaints about the "long halls" at Boardwalk will be dismissed and the walk compared to Kidani? Soon people will be asking to rent golf carts for the halls. Hehe.

Magical Express is great. Between driving and taking the service, I prefer ME unless I have plans to go off site during our stay. Whether to tag the bag for ME to bring or not is questionable. It's nice to have the luggage with you in the room to get ready for bed -however- if yellow tagged, ME will take care of getting it to you, even if it's delayed by hours by the airlines.

How far away is the grocery shopping you mentioned? It'd be great if they had just a couple zip cars available at all the resorts that we could take out for just a couple hours. I'm not a fan of taxis.

Where is the Super Target?! Is it new? We were at Jambo in August and Kidani over Thanksgiving and couldn't find a Target anywhere!

There's one off the 417 Toll Road at Orange Blossom. Not sure if one is closer, because that one isn't exactly around the corner. Maybe there's one off Irlo Bronson?

There is a new SuperTarget quite convenient to AKL. It's on 192 near the 429 Toll Road interchange.

The Target is easy. Coming out of AKL you hit a light at Sherberth Rd I think it is called. Hang a right. It winds a bit and comes up on a condo complex and then you dump out at 192. Hang a right and Target will be on the left. 5 minutes from Kidani.

We stayed at Kidani in August and could see the big red Target bulls-eye, through the windows, as we walked down the looooooong hallway to our room. DH was surprised, and pleasantly so, that it is so close to Kidani.
If only we had rented a car....

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at Kidani. We are making our first trip there in April and are really looking forward to it.

Did you request a particular room location or is that just what you were given?

OP--How did you get to Target? Did you use a cab? I am debating on having groceries delivered or finding an alternate way to get to the store. We are also using ME so no rental car here.

Well this certainly takes away from the Disney Magic, don't you think!!!

We stayed in BLT recently, but last Friday DDiL, DGS and I went over to Kidani for an afternoon. Because I wanted to see the okapi, I walked the hallway, and wow, yes, that one side is very long, and when I viewed the sights from the windows, I think I would be disappointed with the view of the fence and the road and the little bit of savannah that was evident there.

At any rate, I did see the okapi and the river hogs. The okapi were trying to hide in the brush, and the river hogs were galloping after a truck. They were so funny! Walking along the hallways I also saw many many giraffe and Ankoli cattle.

The 2 CM's from South Africa who were at "Camp Kidani" were absolutely great with DGS. Pearl and Sane taught him and us how to play 2 African games, and even gave him the board that they had made, after signing it over to him.

My next DVC stay is in a 1 bedroom savannah view in Kidani in March with 2 DFs. I'm so glad!:yay:

We just booked a savanna view room. That's it.

We borrowed our guests car to make a quick run. You could get a cab, but with what you would pay, it would be cheaper to have groceries delivered. Like I said, we always had a rental car, this was the first without one. We will try a grocery delivery service next time because we really liked ME.

On your walk to Jambo house, did you walk thru the resort to get to it or thru the parking lots out front. We are staying there in Oct. and we checked it out when we were in Disney last Oct. and the way we walked from Kidani to Jambo was thru the parking lots out front. Hope there is a more pleasant and shorter way to walk from one to the other. Thanks in advance...smjj

OP - can you confirm that Maji pool bar is NOT a QS option now? There were reports (and early brochures) that it WOULD be included, but now it looks like it is not included in the DDP. Can you confirm or deny that Maji is or is not a QS option?

TIA for any information.

We stayed in Jambo House on the same days. Our Savannah view studio faced Kidani. We were facing to the right of the Kidani lobby...so it would have been to the left. i.e., I think we may have been facing each other for the week.

We saw antelope, giraffes, cattle, and birds.

Sounds like a fun trip, thanks for the report. We've stayed at Jambo but I think we will prefer Kidani. We shop for food and eat out once or twice, I can easily pass on Mara, looking forward to Sanaa however.

We took the sidewalk path over each time. You could walk inside the resort to a point and then take an elevator or stairway down, but you still need to use the sidewalk to get over to Jambo. Don't know that would really save you any time if you are on the north side.

I cannot. We have never used DDP.

We didn't see ya:) Actually we looked straight at a fence and a driveway beyond that. Could not see Jambo from our balcony. I will post a pic later.
