Im looking at staying in May at one of the off site hotels ( im saving to go to a Disney one for Halloween / Christmas ).

I have stayed at the HI myself and have heard lots about the Dream but nothing much about the Kyriad.

Online reviews such as trip advisor seem to be pretty good but really it's the fellow DISers views im more interested in.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Hotel Kyriad? :scratchin

Many thanks :wave2:

Hi Glenn :wave2:

I'll be able to tell you by the 3rd Feb as I'm staying there from the 31st Jan to 2nd Feb!

that's great Capn'Jac, it looks nice from the outside when we've stopped for pick up's / drop off's when we went to the HI.

Just intrigued to see what a fellow DISer makes of it, as everything else in May seems rather expensive and im unsure about the HI and the supposed renovations going on by the new owners.

Cheers

I stayed there in Nov 07 in a twin room with my (then) 5 year old daughter. The hotel was great & the staff very friendly & helpful & spoke perfect English. The rooms were very warm & we had to sleep with the window open. I wouldn't hesitate in staying there again. The only drawback I had read in reviews before I went was that it was used alot by school groups. As we were going the first week of November, I didn't think there would be too many school groups away at that time of year - but there was one staying at the Kyriad. They set off the fire alarm late at night & people were evacuated (but luckily not our wing) and the teenagers were doing alot of running about outside screaming & shouting. I know that this is not the hotel's fault & can only be thankful that we did not have to evacuated & that my daughter did not even wake up! (The fire alarm didn't ring in our part of the building, but I could hear it through the open window). It was all over & they were rounded up & sent back to their rounds in about 20 mins & we didn't see or hear from them again (but we were leaving the next day anyway).

Hmmm...there is apparently lots of Girl Guide groups over in DLRP next weekend...maybe I need a rethink on Hotels.

I want to stay at a Disney Hotel but Disney are making it too expensive for me!

Ive stayed at the kryaid a couple of times and I think its loverly ,clean warm and friendly .we went in the summer and had breakfast out side on the terrace I felt like we where in the french countyside . The shuttle bus stoped here first in the morning (as its the last hotel in the group) to go to the parks so we got on easy .And if you have fun in the parks you will be so tired you will never hear those 1000,s of girl guides

We stayed there in November when we went for the weekend and really liked it. We only chose it as it was a good package deal off Expedia but we would definitely choose it again.

The rooms were clean and warm. Ours had a double bed and set of bunkbeds. There were lots of towels and toiletries in the bathroom and a kettle and tea/coffee faciliies.

We didnt eat in the restaurant although DH had breakfast there (DD and I chose extra time in bed instead) and he said it was very nice - similar to other hotels.
You had to choose a breakfast time slot and we chose an early one as we had APs so were going in for EMH and the receptionist checked that we really wanted that and warned us that the parks didnt open til 10.00

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We got our room at about 12.00 when we arrived and they spent hours on the phone for us trying to sort out what was happening with our flight home as we had been caught up in a strike.

There was also free wifi in the rooms.

We have stayed at Explorers, Holiday Inn, DCR, Cheyenne, Santa Fe, Sequoia Lodge and liked them all for different reasons and would definitely stay here again

I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. The rooms were lovely & clean. Breakfast was plenty of choice. The staff were very friendly & spoke very good english.

What were the park crowds like at that time of year? we are going the 2nd November this year and just wondering how busy the parks will be?

I havent stayed at the Kyriad myself but some friends took their 2 kids last August and really enjoyed it said the staff were great and the rooms very clean, which is the most important thing i think

It was a great time to go because there were no crowds. When we were there, the Halloween decorations had disappeared, but every day more Christmas ones appeared. We also got to see fireworks displays for Bonfire Night around the lake. The weather was lovely - no need for a coat, just a fleece (but we were probably lucky!) I would go the first week in November again. We were there midweek & not over a weekend.

Good to know! Im really looking forward to that time of year and we delibretly just missed the UK school holidays to
