Thoughts about shipping package vs luggage?

I'm trying to decide whether to ship a package to the resort, or just pack the stuff in a suitcase for the plane.

I want to have an assortment of things to have on hand, snacks, etc. for our upcoming trip. I think DH and I will share one large suitcase for regular packing, and have one carry on. It would mean traveling with one additional small suitcase. It might be one extra piece of luggage on the way down, but we could probably "nest" an extra suitcase for the trip back, as much of the stuff is disposable. (Or, perhaps fill it with souvenirs to come home :teeth: )

I don't think it would be unmanageable, but DH has been rolling his eyes  and not thrilled with the idea. He would rather pay to ship the package and thinks it would be easier that way. I think he's just mortified that the airport luggage inspector might see stuff like my Brita water filter pitcher and granola bars. :earseek:

(However, no such concerns about his DW's undies in the luggage :scratchin )

I already checked with the resort, and they are OK with it. Anybody have any thoughts?

It is not advisable to pack food in your luggage.

below are a number of tips for packing your checked baggage that will help to speed your trip and ensure that your checked bag makes the flight with you: Don't put film in your checked baggage, as the screening equipment will damage it. Pack shoes, boots, sneakers, and other footwear on top of other contents in your luggage. Avoid over-packing your bag so that the screener will be able to easily reseal your bag if it is opened for inspection. If possible, spread your contents over several bags. Check with your airline or travel agent for maximum weight limitations. Avoid packing food and drink items in checked baggage. Don't stack piles of books or documents on top of each other; spread them out within your baggage.

Security will open sealed bags/boxes of food if they feel it necessary for inspection. Also, some items have been prone to set off the screening machines. I know I wouldn't want to eat something that had been opened up by security.

I wouldn't do either. Why pay to ship items you can easily get when you arrive? There are plenty of grocery stores. If you are bringing snacks to save money paying for shipping kind of defeats the purpose.

I thought I read somewhere that the Disney resorts (other than the DVC resorts) were no longer accepting packages for their guests. I could be mistaken, though . . .

Anybody know for sure??

I recall that as well Gem. I vaguely remember someone mentioning that you had to be checked in for them to accept packages. I also recall someone saying that one of the resorts charged them for holding their package.
