Thoughts about online booking

I thought it looked good. I like seeing the other resorts that have something available if what I wanted was booked.

I would think that once your 11 or 7 month window opened up then you'd have 24/7 access to booking.

how does it work with trying to switch resorts at 7 months? i only glanced at it quickly so i'm sorry if that's a dumb question. I'm just wondering if it would be smarter to just call MS for a switch or if there is the option online

It finally appeared:cool1: It looks good. Very easy to use. I was able to check dates and if it wasn't available it listed other resorts with openings. I like seeing it for myself versus having to ask some many questions to member services.

I stand corrected. I logged on this morning and the link was gone :confused3

DVC has said repeatedly that they will use the link to limit traffic. Rather than allow the site to be overwhelmed, the link will be removed from DVCMember.com when a certain number of users are already browsing the online system.

Try again in a few minutes and it should reappear.

I looked at it.. and viewed a few resorts for availability and love it. I am soo happy to see it in action.

:yay::yay::yay:

My experience yesterday is that the online booking will work well for 90% of the members who are computer literate and are willing to "trust" the computer confirmation of their reservation.

Members who either do not use computers or do not trust the online booking confirmation will continue to call Member Services. In another 20 years the situation may become like the bank teller situation in many banks where they want to charge you extra for speaking with a live person.

Members who are computer literate, but who have complex situations (e.g. I want to book 2 studios, 1 one bedroom, and a grand villa all at the same time, or who want to try to change resorts at the end of the home resort booking window) will continue to call Member Services.

So - for me - this is a great improvement in availability. I can book online in the evening when Member Services is closed.

and because of this we who do call MS are being cheated by 1 hour of booking that on-liners get.

I have to agree that I find this part upsetting. I was told by Member Services prior to it coming online that it would be the same hours. 9am Eastern.

I don't know if there is a glitch in the system or they changed their minds.

But I for one think it needs to be 9am for everyone. There will be times that members will be able to use a phone, for example when you are traveling, that you might not have access to a computer.

I am emailing Member Satisfaction with this concern, hopefully you will too.

Which is why I think checking availability for someone that can not even book yet is a misuse of the system.

I truly hope that does not become a pattern here on the forums.

I know its new and everyone is wanting to take it for a ride but I hope this wears off soon.
