Thoughts/opinions?? We are considering a 5-day Bahamian on Magic, Jan '18 vs 7-day Eastern or Western Caribbean on Fantasy, Sep '18, for 2 adults. I have been on a 3-day Dream and 4-day Wonder, he has never cruised. Was also was wondering if Carioca's is close to authentic? I am torn between what I've read about the fabulous staff/low crowds/earlier cruise on the Magic and the longer cruise/ports on the Fantasy. Thanks for your feedback!!

We would always take the longer cruise hands down if all things were equal. But considering there's two extra nights I'm sure the 7-night cruise will cost you more; so that being said it depends on how much we'd want to spend on the ship. The Bahama cruises are typically cheaper for us because we've been there, done that; while the long cruises we spend more because we find those ports far more interesting.

If he has never cruised, you might want to try the 5 day cruise first. If he loves it, then go for the 7 day cruise the next time. Also, the smaller cruise ship is a good way for him to learn the layout of the ship. That being said, I never cruised before, and loved it. We did the 5 day as my first cruise, and that was a good length. The 4 day cruise felt short.

Good points! The extra time allows for paying for the cruise but I didn't consider the extra money for ports. Thank you!

Thank you! I was wondering if a 5th day could really feel better, I'm grateful just to go, but the 3 and 4 day went by so fast!!

I like the atmosphere on the 7-Night so much better. For the 3,4 and 5 Nights, everyone is in such a hurry. On the 7-Night you get those sea days!

Thank you. Extra sea days is one that I keep thinking I would be glad I waited for.

You will have a great time either way! We like leaving from Port Canaveral much better than Miami.

I would always go for a longer 7 night cruise... We love Disney Fantasy but that being said Magic's adult only pool is actually nicer! Well to us anyway. The pool is bigger and there seems to be less "people passing by" traffic.
Both ships are awesome though, so for us we would choose the 7 night only because it's longer.

Thank you!! I'm beginning to realize I really want to go on the Magic but for more time

We took a 7 day Fantasy to the Western Caribbean and LOVED IT! 7 days is just the right length. We have not been on the Magic...but I've not heard anything bad about any of the ships. We choose the Fantasy because it was the newest in the fleet and it was our first cruise, so we thought go big or go home :) We loved everything about the cruise. Now that we know the ship and how the activities work...we hope to make much more out of the second one next year!

Well, I'm always in the "longer is better" camp. But I do prefer the smaller, classic ships over the bigger, Dream class ships. And the Caribbean ports are more attractive to me than the Bahama ports. Well, except for Castaway Cay, that one is good.

Not sure what sort of "authenticity" you are looking for in Carioca's. It's South America - Disney style.

But, in the long run, any cruise you choose will probably fit the bill for you. It's all new.

This is why I'm torn, the Caribbean ports & more time vs the service and lack of crowds on the smaller ship. I am now realizing the decision is most likely, which to do first. While I really want those extra two days, I think the Magic may be the best for his first cruise. And it's 200 days earlier!

He is Brazilian so thought Carioca's could be a nice touch, but was wondering about it. Thanks for the feedback!
