Thought really hard about DVC until......

We stayed offsite last year( Emerald Island) and it took very little time to get to the Parks because of shortcuts. It was an inexpensive trip. That trip led to us becoming DVC members. Somehow, the offsite trip just wasn't the same. It really became less about money and more about "the Disney experience".
:) I'm very happy that your family is enjoying the trip!

I totally agree!!! DVC is not about saving money. It is about immersing yourself into the entire Disney experience.

OP, if you enjoy staying off site then stick with that. We love being on site and our stays are more about WDW Resorts than about the parks themselves.

I'm glad you are enjoying your stay. We love getting our own house at certain destinations just not WDW. We go to WDW for WDW and the resorts so we like being right in the middle. The beauty is, despite being in the middle, our DVC feels like our own "house".

Thanks for the post.

We have found that as the kids got older it was so easy to allow them more freedom at WDW.

Now they do PI later than us!

We have only stayed at DVC in a condo-type thing, but I have to say, I do like the 'home" style of vacationing rather than a regular hotel room. Now personally, I like my "home" to be in a DVC resort in WDW, but I understand what you are saying about relaxing more and such. Now that we have DVC, it's harder to be in a regular hotel room.
