What IS that funky smell on the resort monorail?
I think they maybe use them as cattle transport when they're not delivering guests...or do you think WE smell that bad?

Just one of those little lingering questions from our recent trip :teeth:

Take 40+ people of many different ages, wearing a host of different perfumes, colognes, aftershave lotions, and anti-persperents, marianate well in their own juices, jam them together in a pretty much airtight container and just wait for the "ding" that indicates they have reached the end of the recommended cooking time. :rotfl2:

I think it's sweat on the seats. To me, the buses and gyms have the same gross aroma.

I know from experience, that yes, some people DO smell that bad! Especially in the summer. Pee yoo!! :crazy2:

I don't know what it is but it smells like band-aids to me :rotfl2:

It is pretty yucky, do you think they ever scrub the monorail down???

I prefer to think it's the super-strength disinfectant that they just used to clean the seats before I sat down :rotfl2:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

While I have noticed The Smell in the past, I didn't this past November. Perhaps it wasn't hot enough? :confused3

Funny I smelled it this November but when we went in sweltering heat, I didn;t smell it. Hmmm

I noticed the odor last December also. I thought it smelled like urine in the car we were riding in, and being a nurse, I envisioned some poor person soaking their depend undergarment. :confused3 That is until the next time we rode the monorail and it smelled the exact same way. And the time after that, and the time after that. :rotfl:

YES! That MUST be it!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I'll have to remember that one!
It's like an old smelly water smell, maybe from the heat, humidity, air conditioning mix? It is pretty bad... :rotfl:

I have to agree w/the urine smell. My mom and I were discussing it and we came up with a musty urine smell... My thought was all the kids in unchanged diapers (and could have been unchanged depends, as another poster mentioned).

it's the same smell that is in the resorts' elevators..... a mixture of vomit and vo-ban (vomit-cleaner-upper).

<taking a big whiff> ah.....smells like home

lol

My husband (stay at home dad of 2 potty training sons) agrees with you. He got in the monorail and said "It sure smells like pee in here".

It was really, really bad in July and August with all the heat and humidity. We have noticed recently that the cars that have had the carpet replaced with vinyl flooring don't smell quite as bad. I am hoping it was the carpet not the seats.

Carpet glue is the answer. It is most prevalent when the carpets are changed out on the monorail system.
