Hi everyone, I've been so wishy washy the last few weeks after I finally decided it was the right time to buy DVC again (had to sell after divorce 7 years ago).

First it was OKW, then SSR... DEFINITELY SSR, then wait... Beach Club, but then back to SSR...etc...etc.

So I got what I consider a good contract on BCV. Slightly higher than I wanted to pay, but far less per point that other listings. So I'm SUPER EXCITED right? Then I see a BWV for $15 less per point... ugh.

Please tell me what you think the pros/cons are of each and help me make a decision... Please help! Thanks!

i would have to agree with huskerfanatic7 we too are buying BCV we love the marketplace and the atmosphere is wonderful .

the only negative about BCV or BWV is the shorter contract but I guess it depends on your age when you buy in. That is the main reason I bought into BLT instead

The locations of BCV and BWV are very similar but the vibes are different. If you love Stormalong Bay pool then you should probably buy BCV. We are partial to the view choices at BWV and we like the being right on the BW. Have you stayed at either of these resorts in the past? Having the 11 month window is a big plus for both of these resorts but remember that the deeds expire in 2042, so not as many years left as the newer DVC resorts, if that makes any difference to you.

Thank you for your thoughts...really appreciate them!!
Yes I've stayed at both and like them each for different reasons. My kids are basically grown so the 150 points will go a long way at both. I'm not super concerned about the length of ownership since 25 years is still a very long time. And...both will still be there right??? I'm struggling with a few things. Higher cost st BCV for 1 and the size of it as well. Even 10 years ago it was hard to get anything at BC but I did have luck at BW. I'm concerned that, with all the owners at Aulani, AKV, SSR and others...it will be truly impossible to get into BCV. With that line of thinking...I'm leaning towards BCV and ignoring the extra $2k. Am I nuts?!?

No. I would be thinking the same. Although you can't go wrong with either property. I think you need to follow your gut, which to me sounds like you're leaning towards BCV.

You are correct!! I didn't realize it until I read it but it seems like I'm trying to talk myself out of the extra $2k and find the same happiness at BW. Both are great but you're right...my heart wants BCV and my wallet wants BWV. We all know which one wins in that battle don't we?!? Lol. Thank you soooo much!!

I have these same problems, so I get it! Enjoy BCV! :flower1:

DVC is a luxury item. Don't buy the Porsche if you really want a Ferrari.

It's not worth the difference in price.

Yes, either way you'll be in a sporty car. But at that price, you should be buying the car you want. At that price, the price difference isn't worth your level of satisfaction.

My main difference is BWV - walk to both Epcot and DHS, rooms with great views (Boardwalk view rooms) and lower cost rooms (standard view).
BCV - SAB (with cool looking slide that is terribly disappointing and awful to get too - i.e., pool ok but don't buy for the slide).

Depends on you, your likes and dislikes. Who will vacation, adults buy BWV, kids buy BCV. While BCV is a fine building, it doesn't have much in the way of views and the BC and YC is what makes it a contender.

We own both, as adults we stay at BWV and visit BC/YC.

To me it comes down to what else you'd do with the $2k. For some people, that's a lot of money. For others, it really isn't. I happen to think that if you think its a lot of money (as it you'll have to give up something you need if you do it), DVC isn't a good choice at all. So assuming you can afford DVC at all, the $2k isn't a big deal.

I'm one of the few that don't really like SAB, so BCV has little draw for me. And I'm frugal - for me $2k is $2k to go into the stock market, where it will sit and make me $100 a year in dividends until I need to use my dividend income to have a comfortable retirement. I'd rather have BWV, $2k in my pocket, and an extra $100 a year at retirement.

Thank you all for your valuable insight! I'm terribly indecisive to begin with, so this has been a struggle! I pondered all night and decided that the price difference between those two was negligible so decided to go with BCV. Low and behold, the reseller I wanted to work with (not the one with the BCV & BWV contracts) called me with a brand new listing she thought I'd be interested in. It was lower on my list of desired properties, but the price and details were something she thought I'd consider. After she mentioned OKW (4th on my list) I immediately thought I wouldn't be interested. However, it was loaded with points, super low price and seller wasn't even charging the FULL 2016 points that were included. Not to mention is was $9,000 LESS than the BCV contract I was pondering which was stripped until 2018 and was more points that I really wanted.

I fully realize not owning at either BCV or BWV will effectively mean I won't be able to stay there, but I'm perfectly happy with SSR & OKW and feel like it's the better option in all respects. Here's my situation... let me know your thoughts please

BCV - 150pts March UY - no points until 2018 $107pp = $16500 total cost (approx.)
BWV - 150pts May UY - 13 2017 pts - 150 2018 pts $89pp = $14500 total cost (approx.)
OKW - 100pts March UY - 100 2016 pts - 100 2017 pts - 100 2018 pts @ $65pp = $7700 total cost (approx.)

That's kind of a no brainer on the contracts as long as you also enjoy OKW.

And I'm not certain why you think you will never be able to stay anyplace other than SSR or OKW - although when you plan to go can definitely affect things. But we still stay at BCV even though I sold our BCV several years ago. BWV - also very possible to stay there and other locations too unless you have a very particular time like Marathon weekend or the first week in December that you HAVE to go to WDW.

That gives me hope, so thank you! We have much more availability to travel so perhaps I'm thinking about this all wrong. Back in 2008 it was hard to get BWV or BCV but I had kids in school then too. I too believe it's a no-brainer Kat, so thanks for your post! It's changing gears completely that had me wondering if it was the right decision. Ugh I wish I weren't so indecisive! BUT, I'm now confident this is the right choice! Not only that, but it's the company I've read rave reviews on and are referred by Disney, so I also feel confidently it will pass ROFR!
