If you have an AP do you take advantage of the discounts it provides?

We do! On our trip last week we didn't have the kids with us so we were buying TONS of gifts and souvenirs for them. We used our AP discount at every store as well as some eateries! It was great! I think over the course of this year we can save soooo much money because of the AP and also the DVC discounts!

I do at times. Mostly I pick up the AP pins. But I also will use it or my Disney Visa to get discounts at WOD.

We plan to purchase AP's to begin use with our July trip. These discounts worry me...I might spend too much!

We always ask about shopping discounts, especially now that they are available in the parks. We use our AP to purchase the Tables in Wonderland Card for dining discounts.

Excellent point! I also use my AP to get the Tables in Wonderland card.

TiW is the best discount that we have gotten with our APs. It encourages us to keep renewing our APs.

We have the bi-coastal AP, we mainly use our discounts at DLR, but we get the WDW portion so we can get TIW.

I also have the bicoastal premier pass, and definitely use it for all the discounts we can. Shopping, dining, experiences - we're going to do those things anyway, so getting a discount is always nice and definitely going to happen since we have the opportunity. Neither my DW nor I like to leave money on the table, so if they offer it, we'll use it. We won't use it just to use it, but if we'd be purchasing or spending anyway - we'll definitely seek out the discount.

We're going to use ours to mini golf. You get a 50% discount for you and up to 3 more with your AP. :thumbsup2Better than the 15% discount for DVC!

I used this discount earlier this month. Definitely a great perk of the AP. I haven't used any of the other discounts, though.

I use it all the time. I used it on a dolphin in depth tour and saved (i think) 80$ off the tour. . 10% off every thing we buy at Disney store, lego store, ect. If we were even close in an AP making sense and not.. I would opt for it. I also have done a AP disc room only disc adding 1 night on.
With the tour, saving 100$ off per pass (dvc), getting another 80 off for renewal, $ off the room; the cost of the 3 passes after what I would have spent anyway was maybe 400$- 500$.

I look at cost to renew and time until next trip though. The discount for renewal is good, but if you are not going for 9 months, you are still better off exp. it and starting new. I think I did the math one time and the renewal makes sense if you had a trip within 6 months, as you save the extra $, but more than that and expire it and start again. Now only if they do the 15 month thing again.. :goodvibes

And that will happen :thumbsup2 When we were there in Dec 2009 they were giving 20% off at most stores, even most kiosks, for AP holders. We went way overboard then!!

We should have gotten the TiW card in my opinion. My husband shot me down and said nope..don't need it. We are in WDW three times this year, to me it's a no brainer especially since he's become anti-dining plan over time. :confused3
Maybe he'll agree when we go back this summer. Is it for 12 months?

You bet your sweet mouse we do. We used the DVC discount to get the AP's, then used the AP discount for the TIW card. We use the TIW for all of our drinking and dining pleasure. We asked at every place we are spending money at Disney which discounts the offer. We then use which ever is better, DVC, AP or TIW. My wife gets Disney charms to add to her bracelet each trip so the 20% off at the jewelry store on Main Street or in DTD really helps. Always ask about any available discount!

Thanks for all the helpful information.

We have both AP and DVC. May I ask what discount do you get on TIW for being an AP member? I seem to learn something new everytime I check these boards. :)

Thanks in advance.

The TiW is only available to Florida residents OR all annual pass holders, it is not available to DVCers, unless the DVCers is an annual passholders or Florida resident.

The current price of the TiW for AP holders is $75, for FL residents who are not AP holders, the price is $100. The TiW is good for about 13 months after purchase, and gets 20% off virtually all table service meals, including adult beverages*. It also good at counter service at the value resorts, and Animal Kingdom park.

*18% gratuity is automatically added at tables service venues.
