hey--i was wondering if i could get some info from those of you who do entertainment at the parks. anyone been in spectro magic? i think that would be so much fun.

anyway i'm hoping to get into the CP program the year after next and do entertainment or operations...merchandise would be fun, toopirate:

If you want to get into entertainment with WDW MAKE SURE YOU GO TO THE COLLEGE PROGRAM AUDITION!!! Do not think you just apply to the College Program and then audition for entertainment when you get to Florida...you can find a list of the schools and auditions for entertainment at www.wdwcollegprogram.com

Hope that helps you out...our entertainment is first class and if you love the entertainment life its worth it if not then you should rethink your choice....I did Spectro a couple times its all magical and amazingpixiedust:

lol. of COURSE you have to audition ahead of time :D

i can't go for a few years yet, but i want to make sure it's the right choice for me. i have a deep love and passion for theatre and the trueness of it. i despise nothing more than people who have the talent and don't focus it and use it appropriately. it really saddens me to see people who work at disney just to work there and have it on their resume. that's why i hope i can get in and get to know other people who DO share the same appreciation as i do

thanks for the response!

What were the auditions like? I am not going to apply for the program until my sophomore year of college. Right now I am a senior in high school. I just don't know what I am in for as far as the audition process and what I need to have prepared.:goodvibes

I totally agree. It still seems that some people (even in entertainment) are like that as well and therefore their character integrity isn't always there. I love what I do there and I am seasonal, so I don't get to go down there a WHOLE lot during the year, but I absolutely LOVE it when I do.

As for the auditions...They are not really that bad...you're taught a dance in a half hour or so and it starts off easy and then gets progressively more difficult. Then you also have to do an animation (like wrapping christmas presents, getting ready for the Oscars...they're pretty creative with these, so you never know what you're going to get). :)

Then for the actual audition, you're with about 4 other people and you do a little bit of animation and then go right into dance and then repeat it again. I did mine to Strangers Like Me from Tarzan...oh the memories! :thumbsup2

It's really not bad at all!

My only worry is that I won't do well with the dancing because I don't have training in it. I have done little dancing in musicals throughout highschool but I pretty much have two left feet. I can sing and act but dancing is not so easy for me. I love love love performing so hopefully something will work out.

lol. i remember my first dance audition *for a musical*. it was TERRIBLE! but i've gotten so much better bc of our choreographer at school. i'm not great my any stretch of the imagination...i'm thinking about getting some lessons. i have at least a year and a half before my audition and dance is the part i'm scared of :scared:

Before my audition last year, I hadn't taken any form of dance lessons (except for random gym class stuff which I don't remember anyway) since I was 8...and I made it! :thumbsup2

Just think HAKUNA MATATA and you'll be just fine. :)

I agree. I didn't do my CPs (yes, programs) because of the resume or because it's Disney. I did them because I love Disney, and it's where I want to work FT. Also, I want to be a performer someday. I have auditioned 3 times, and will keep on auditioning until someday my dream will come true.

That is exactly how I feel. I went to an open house at Emerson and the head of the theate department said " he who stays with theater and performing arts will be in it and he who doesn't stay with it won't be" I think that is the perfect quotation for aspiring performers. :goodvibes

Great words of wisdom. I like it!

i was looking on my university's webpage today and found an article about the CP program when they came last october. well there was a contact, so i emailed her and ask some questions and this is what i hear :D:D:D

Dee,

Hey! That's awesome that you're interested in the program. I went twice and loved it. Mizzou, as of now, doesn't grant credit hours for most students that go down to do the College Program. So, you wouldn't have to take classes, but another option that a lot of students choose is taking Mizzou Online Courses while in Florida.

As far as scholarships go, I was able to keep mine, and most other students are able to as well. You'll want to talk to you financial aid advisor to make sure everything goes smoothly, but Mizzou lets you maintain full-time student status while on the program, so you normally wouldn't be dropped from any scholarships.

If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask. I'll let you know when the recruiters are returning to campus and you can come by and check out the information session to get a better idea of the requirements if you'd like. Have a great day!

so i can take summer school, etc. and still graduate on time. i don't plan on taking online courses while i'm there. i want to get the full experience and i think i'll be too busy for classes *if i get accepted*

Thanks for the info!:goodvibes
I got my official college acceptance letter in the mail this week. I knew I was accepted to Salem State College because I did an on the spot admission at my high school, but that was only to get into the school not for your intended major. Now that I got my letter it says I have been accepted in as a theater major for the BA program:yay: . The school is also becoming a university next year instead of a state school. I can't wait to aplply for the cp now that I know I am in the school. I am going to try for sophomore year for the cp.
