Those wall dispensers really are gross

So I was not a fan, but actually those things are disgusting. I don’t know how Disney can keep them around for the long haul. Ours happened to be unlocked last weekend and I couldn’t resist getting an up close look. I was able to take them out of the metal contraption holding them to the wall and the areas on the bottles usually not visible are very full of rancid crud. I am a shampoo nut and I wouldn’t use that shampoo again if Disney paid me. How can they be that disgusting if they are supposedly “clean”? What a bad design. There is no way that is even remotely sanitary. Disney needs to get rid of those things. Now.

I was surprised Disney was using those when we went. Especially after seeing the extensive sheet listing where they are cleaning.

Where did you stay that had these? I am at poly now and we have the individual h20 supplies.

At the resorts I visited in Dec the bottle racks said they had been cleaned and were covered with a piece of plastic sheet that you had to remove before using them. That said, I always bring my own soap and shampoo anyway.

I stayed at a Preferred studio at SS over the weekend. They had the dispensers. I used the body wash - or tried t- since the pump didn't dispense enough of it. I ended up using the bar soap from the sink. I truly hope that the dispensers are deemed a failure and are removed.

We had the same experience. The inside of that thing was absolutely nasty. I needed Mousekeeping anyway so they ended up just giving us individual items as I told them we would not be using those. There is no way those things are being cleaned properly.

Please don’t get me started on the pull out beds 😡😬

I haven't seen one of these yet. But, no matter what...it's never going to be as gross as the condition my kids leave our bathroom at home after use.

Those dispensers are beyond disgusting. Even if they look clean does not mean they are. People assume because it is soap they clean themselves but that is not so. The product contaminates very easily.

Yes behind the bottles will get disgusting if not cleaned regularly. When you use them your not touching those areas. I agree when they refill them they should be removed and everything cleaned.

Why am I not grossed out by them? Maybe I’m a gross person. I go in two weeks so maybe my mind will change.
I sort of liked them last time I used them.
Finding Poop on the toilet seat at the Poly when we checked in grossed me out.
There are so many more gross things I find in the rooms (hair, nails, old food, etc) that reusable soap bottles aren’t one of them.

yeah i agree.

I guess we are both gross?

I'm grossed out by bodily remnants and debris....

I'm not grossed out by the bottle grime because the things I'm touching in the normal course of business are not gross. Someone mentioned that the inside of the bottles is gross?? How was that determined? Is there mold inside the bottle?? I do not understand.

I would have been skeeved to have peeked behind the curtain but I would have just asked them to replace it and then brought the complaint to DVC - hoping you did that?

No matter what Disney/DVD claimed, it's a cost-saving move ("environmentally friendly" is just a bonus). Thus, if no one is using them because they are perceived to be gross/unsanitary/whatever, it would still save Disney money. Hence, it would be deemed a success rather than failure. Until people stop staying at Disney resorts/DVC because of them, they are here to stay.

A question for anyone grossed by the refillable bottles: what about the rides in the park? Do you happily touch the protections after hundreds or thousands of people did the same, a good % of them not washing their hands after going to the toilet?

I can’t speak for anyone else but we always use lysol wipes or clorox wipes on anything we have to touch before we use them. Touching the item is not the issue, it’s the condition the bottles are in,making them gross. When we step into a ride, wipe in hands ready to grab said item and wiped down quickly. The same goes for our tables and any condiments at table before we use them.

I happily touch everything. Sometimes, I can even find free chewing gum under the railings!

I agree. What I want to know is if these same people refuse to use soap dispensers in public bathrooms. Wouldn't that be the same thing?

Those shampoo pump on wall are always broken. They purchased the cheapest dispensers in the world .... the skinny little thing keeps falling out of the bottle cap and is supposed to fit into a tiny hole that doesn’t actually want to line up with screw - on lid. Thus they are huge Fail that guests have paid for and will pay again when it is determined they need to be replaced by a better ,but not really, ,product design... = money into somebody’s pocket but not guest!
Even if you bring your own you are still paying for shoddy product... and the ultimate goal is for you to not expect very much unless it is a revenue source for Disney.
