Those using swagbucks ???

Has anyone used the walmart gift cards at Sam's Club to buy their Disney Gift cards? I do not have a target credit card and do not want to open one, so the only way to get discounted Disney GCs is at Sam's.

I got a Target Red Card debit, it is linked to my checking account and it gives the same 5% discount. I rarely use it, as Target is an hour away. But I have it when I want it and I did not want/need another credit card.

I have done this for $900 worth of cards so far. $600 of that was paid for by swagbucks entirely, and the rest was from the big change jar we have been saving!

Even if I had paid cash for those gc's, though, the Sam's discount would represent a $42.12 savings over just paying full price. Not huge, but it adds up.

Thanks! I am going to cash in my points for Walmart gift cards!!! Hoping to have enough Disney GCs to cover all our food while at Disney!

I should mention that a few people have had some issues with doing it online, where the gc's didn't get activated. Nobody that I know of reported this issue while buying them in store. Also, for the love of goodness, cash them out for higher dollar cards to take into sam's. I had a bunch of $5 ones from when they had the walmart ones on sale a month or 2 ago, and it was a PAIN. Of course, my cashier was apparently as dumb as a box of rocks (and I say this in full sympathy, having been a cashier numerous times. I am always super patient with them, but this woman kept trying to RING UP my gc's instead of using them as tender, and then telling me that they were invalid. After being shown how to do it. Over and over. No, I am not bitter at all, lol)

IAC, I doubt you would have AS MUCH issue as I did, but the fewer gc's the better, esp if you are buying multiple packs.

Thanks! I will wait next time to cash them in. I read some where on here that with using perks tv that I should cash in regularly. I will hold off on swagbucks. I just was a little excited that I earned enough to cash in. This is all so new to me.

I wasn't saying don't cash in, how many sb do you have? If you are cashing in for 5 at a time or something, I would wait until you get 50 or even 100. That's just me, though. The manager said something to me about not doing more than 4 gc's per transaction, so 3 50's would fit under that if you buy 1 set at a time. I totally understand being excited. Every time I buy a new set, it is super exciting for me. I got to buy THREE sets on friday, between my SB GC's and the change jar, and I was walking on sunshine, ROFL.

This is the best way I've learned to reduce the cost of my trip.

1) Swag / Perk - Target gift card

2) Discover(any credit card) 1% for target gift cards

3) Target gift cards to Disney gift cards using the red card for 5% online

4) Disney gift cards to Disney online savings account for 2%

It sounds like a lot of work but really we just figure out how much in target gift cards we need. So if our trip is 2,000 we figure out how much we can earn in perk/swag buck gift cards. Lets say we earn $500 . We need 1,500 more for the trip. So we buy on our discover (or the best % credit card you have) 1,500 in target gift cards. For discover its 1% back but this quarter we might actually get 5% (the order is pending so we will see soon) Then we use the gift cards we ordered online with our redcard linked and get 5% back.

It ends up working out to $5 saved per $100 . Its basicly $100 we save that we convert into another $100 in gift cards.

So we have 2,100 in the Disney account at this point. $600 of it was free , $1,500 was our money. We then get another 20 gift card per $1,000 we use . It takes like a month and a half to come so we either have it in time to go on the trip or we use that to start the next vacation savings.

Then we still have the $1,500 on the credit card that will either get us 1% ($15 bucks ) or if we are lucky 5% which gets us another $75 back in cash back.

The whole ordering process takes us maybe 10 minutes to order the gift cards with the discover card (we like to do $500 at a time ) and then another 30 minutes spread out over a week or so to order the Disney cards (if you order to many to quickly you get canceled ordered so we do $100-$200 at a time) and then maybe 15 or 20 minutes on the Disney vacation site.

Of course swag bucks and perk takes a few minutes each day to check on the apps , hit the screen for them to continue and so on.

I know a lot of people who get really excited and stay up late for when the discounts hit through Disney. This time we are saving 11% off our package through Disney. So the little time I spend over the months leading up to the trip will save me about the same amount of money or even more . I think its well worth the time

Target online only allows 4 gift cards to be used at once. So cashing out at 5 is silly. I cash out at 25 on both perk and swag. That way every other week I can basicly get a $50 Disney gift card.

After a hiatus for the busy summer I am back on the swagbuck train! I am loving the new gold survey page. I feel like I can pretty easily qualify for one a day.... vs. before I was lucky to get one once a week.

I have heard it is best to cash in regularly for swagbucks also - that they look closer when you cash in more then $25. I always cash in every time I have $10 worth.

SWAG CODE ALERT: OneMillionSB for 3pts

Because people in my "real life" don't understand or appreciate I want to brag here. I just booked our hotel for our drive down to WDW and it was paid for by my SB earnings! I have added quite a bit from SB for our trip but I like that this was entirely paid for by them. So excited! Think I may start packing tonight! pixiedust:

Just so you know, with a target red card you get free shipping from Target.com with no minimum purchase. I have a Target close by and find it nice sometimes just to have them ship it rather then make an extra trip out to the store to pick whatever it is up.

Thanks for the heads up! I hadn't thought of the max gift cards allowed per order.

I have used that once. But I don't do a lot of online shopping or shopping in general, really. Grocery shopping & household goods aside.

First, thank you for all the tips. Now I must ask for one more.

I plan to get a few cheap andriod devices to run SB and Perk. Am I looking for a no contract, unlocked phone? In other words, are there any other gotchas when buying these devices? I am not sure if there is a difference between 'unlocked' and 'activated'?

TIA

If all you want is a phone to run the apps, you do not need it to be unlocked. Unlocked means you can take it to any provider. You can just pick up a cheap (no contract) phone at Walmart, take it out of the box and use it, via WIFI. Activated means you have cell service with the phone.

You can combine Target GCs using the Target app (both android and iOS versions have the function). Since the amount of SBs needed for one $5 Target GC is 1/5 the amount needed for a $25 GC, there's no need to wait until you have enough for the $25 GC. Just cash out for the $5 GC and then combine it with another GC using the app. You can combine several GCs into one GC this way.

I've never heard this before, any more info on it? I always cash in as soon as I get to $25, does that flag anything?

that's good to know but what do you mean about being 1/5th I still need the full amount of money to order the $50 gift card so it doesn't really matter if I can cash out faster.

On swag bucks its 500 for a $5 gift card or $2500 for a $25 gift card. Its the same with swag 5,000 for $5 or 25,000 for $25 .

So unless I get a bonus for combining gift cards I don't see the point of sitting around with a bunch of gift cards , it just adds more steps and more things that can go wrong I would think

well they weren't kidding when they said they were improving the ad experience. I have now found about 5 different ads (tresseme and flash) that do not auto close. They are now on sportly , sbtv and entertain now. They are not the only ads but they seem to come up more often now.

Yes, you still need 500 SB per $5 or 5,000 Perk points per $5 when you cash out whether you redeem for 5 $5 GCs or one $25 GC. However, rewards programs are notorious for going under with no warning and members who hoard their points for a big redemption are the biggest losers. It makes more sense to cash out frequently if the total points difference is the same.

I read it on one of the sites that report swag codes. It says they look closer at accounts cashing in over $25 in a day. I'm not sure if it is true or not but I would hate to have $100 in there and something happen to my account. I get Target cards and it is easy to combine them so I just cash in at $10.
