How is the weather? I dont mean in terms of the hurricane, but the heat/humidity.

oh wow that's hot. i'm foreseeing a change in date. =(

does later in October get better? My daughter is bent on going to MNSSHP but I see in 2020 (yes that's 4 years away :lmao:) that Halloween lands on a Saturday so if we were to do it that year we can catch both the MNSSHP and see the Christmas decorations too.

I was in the Orlando area for the past two weeks - flew back home yesterday - and it was very hot and humid.

I've been in FL in early November when it was much cooler and we needed sweatshirts in the evening. But, I've also been in early December when we didn't need sweatshirts for a MVMCP.

Be prepared for any kind of heat and make plans to cool off in a/c buildings.

For those heats I rather either just go in April (and hold off on MNSSHP for now) or hope for lower temps/humidity towards end of October.

Here in Orlando, once we hit 90 (typically in April), we don't expect to be out of the heat and humidity until Halloween. If we get some cooler temps, great, but don't expect it. Our seasons are Summer, and not summer. Winter is a cold front 3 or 4 times a year from January to March.

We just flew back last night (Tues) and wow--am I grateful to be back in Seattle!
It was blazing saddles hot and humid. Miserable. Took refuge in a/c areas. Occasional thundershowers that were torrential. At one point you could have wrung me out and filled a bucket o_O

Florida weather is not for the weak! It's no joke. Of course when parts of the country are buried in snow and ice, and it's a mild 75 and sunny in FL---that's the payoff!
We were only there because my husband had a work commitment. Plus it's hard to pass up Food & Wine when air and hotel are already paid.

I'm glad we got outta Dodge before the hurricane stuff hits. I truly hope all that are there stay safe and it's a short inconvenience. Unlike Haiti.
My heart breaks for families that scrimp and save for this trip, and then this happens on the one week they have been waiting for.

Also, weather wise--once the hurricane blows through, I think the temp will drop a bit.

HI Seattle neighbor!! :)

Slight drop in humidity but it's usually still hot and humid the end of October. It's rare and been a few years since temps were nice at the end of October

So no real significant difference from 9/30 to say 10/20?

daytime the humidity will start to come down but still feel humid. nighttime though, it'll start to hit the 60s and 50s (and nighttime is will be closer to 7ish) but lately the parks are also closing as soon as they can shoot the fireworks off (not every day but many)

I can only speak to our trip, but October 21-30, 2014 was just perfect. Sunny, warm enough for swimming, lower humidity and cool at night. Compared to when we went in June, it was heaven.

Maybe because Chicago is just so gross all summer  (people seem to think it doesn't get hot/humid here, but trust, it's gross), but the weather was gorgeous. 80's was good for us.

We've gone the same week the past 2 years (3rd week of Oct). Weather was great. Warm during the day (mid 80's) but cool in the early morning and at night (shorts with sweatshirts). Honestly we have been extremely happy with the weather then and are going back same week this year.

I've been living 5 minutes away from the parks for a couple of months now and you can definitely see a dip in the temperatures from 2-3 weeks ago, especially in the mornings and evenings,it can feel downright cool(ish). With that said during the middle of the day it can still get plenty hot, especially if the sun is out and you see a buildup of clouds from an oncoming storm it makes the heat feel extra humid and sticky. But still 100% better than the mid to upper 90's from July and August, where heat indexes make it feel like 110-120.In the next couple of weeks is when you start seeing a bigger drop in the high temps,I think with Saturday or Sunday this upcoming weekend one of the days only showed a high of 82 degrees.

Heck it was hot and humid in Indiana today! I bet Orlando was sweltering.
