I have claustrophobia. Can barely stand to be on elevators. Would this totally freak me out? Should I just do the little room to the side? I really hate to miss riding in the sub but am afraid esp with it probably being packed to the gills that I would flip out.

Any ideas?

Are you ok on Star Tours? If so, I think you'll be fine. I'd suggest sitting towards the middle or rather at the very end next to the stairs would be best for you.

I haven't been on the ride yet, but I have heard that there is more room per person towards the back of the sub as opposed to being in the front of the sub. So try to be the last person in... therefore you can make a quick exit if you are just flipped.

At least they have an option if you decided it's going to bother you. I like that Disney is going with more options and opportunity for everybody to experience rides. Like the Mission Space lite. Ok, I think dh will hurl on that one, but it was still great.

Thanks guys. That was what I was thinking. Maybe sitting by the stairs. I guess I will just see how it goes and if I feel like it is going to bug then I will do the little room. Thanks. :)

Having rode it Saturday I can tell you, it's a snug fit and our sub was only 2/3's full. the seats are tiny- they fold down from the center of the sub, and you are looking right at your little port hole. I sat by the stairs and there was a little room, but if you're claustrophobic, i would imagine when they close the hatches you might get a little tense.

how does the ride go anyway? sry for popping in lol

I would avoid it...I think it's pretty confining - and I'm a relatively small person. You especially do NOT want to be the first person to board (either from the front or the back), because those people get stuck partly *under* the stairway - I sat there and there's not much head room - it feels even more confining. The first time I rode I was the LAST person on the sub and sat right under the hatch - I agree that there's a little more room there, but the hatch wasn't watertight and dripped on me both times we went under the waterfall.

But you don't *have* to go on the subs to experience the ride - you can request the "Observation Room" when you get to the front of the line. There's a room off to the side of the loading area with a big screen in it, and they show you what the people on the ride are seeing and hearing. It was filmed in high-def so it's supposed to look pretty good. I was told it's available to anyone who doesn't want to go into the submarines - whether it's because they are physically unable to do it, or because of claustrophobia/fear issues.

Do you need some sort of "proof" that you are claustrophobic?? My Sister is HORRIBLE :scared1: especially in elevators, I don't want people to think that we are trying to scam our way in there....

i was ok until the end . then I started to feel quesey. We stayed on way too long waiting to unload

This happened to us, too, and I couldn't get out of that submarine fast enough!

I don't think I would ever ride it again but I'm glad I got to see it.

i was just going to mention the same thing...from the time we loaded till the time we were off it was about 20 minutes and because its so packed right now I would suggest you avoid it if you are that claustrophobic...sitting by the stairs isnt going to help you...that stairway is small and curved so if I were you I would wait until the wait time is not so long...

Thanks everyone. That is what I was afraid of just from seeing pics and watching the video. I remember riding it as a kid but I didn't really develop my claustrophobia till I was a teenager. I think I will just stick to the little room. :)
