comfortable!

Don't know when they changed the sofa beds or if even if they are all new. But we just got back from OKW last week and my girls slept on the sofa bed in the living room for the first time.

The sofa beds are no longer a mattress on top of springs. It consists of 3 sections of thick, dense foam that are attached by heavy duty velco to the pull out base.

I had to go out and sleep with my girls a couple of times during the night and I found the foam extremely firm and comfortable.

They could easily rotate the foam sections so that one section won't get more wear than the others and they can also easily replace sections individually as they get worn or damaged.

Kudos to the change.

Wow! Those sound great. Wonder where you could find one to buy for the "other" home?:sunny:

Glad to hear it! I have a feeling my Mother in Law will be spending some time on one in March!

Good News

I can tell you they were not in our BCV or BWV or VB quarters (trips last 2 weeks)

thanks

I just got back from a trip to BWV and OKW. The sofa sleeper at OKW was good. Much better than I remember.

I had heard they were going to try this, I think it's a type of memory foam and that all the sofas at SSR would have them.

Hopefully they will change out all of them.

Glad to hear it! :)

According to our guide, these sofa beds were custom designed and produced for Disney...and will be installed in all of the villas eventually.

Very pleased to hear this, because our sofa bed mattress in bldg 43 (over a year and half ago) was nothing to write home about. You could feel the bars in the middle. Our next trip to OKW is in 9 months. My kids will be very happy to hear about the new mattresses !

That is great news. My kids fight over who gets the aero bed becasue none of them want to sleep on the pull out.

Wow, how nice to hear! After just spending 10 nights on the sofa bed at BCV a new type of bed would be a wonderful thing!

I can't wait to get enough experience to post informed comments about hardness of chairs, making ressies, and the comfort of pull out beds. We're just into our 4th month of ownership, I love reading about the goings on at home!

We just got a memory foam pad for our bed at home, and it is FABULOUS! We couldn't believe the difference it made in our bed. We were about to buy a new mattress, but this was fantastic.

HookdonWDW, thanks for your info. Sam's Club had these pads for a great price -- a little over $100 -- and I brought one home yesterday as my mattress is aging. The pad was GREAT -- I felt like I was on a cloud! I think we will get another for the guest room before they are gone.

What is the label on these fantastic puppies? My in-laws have a bed from you-know-where that we use when we visit ... they tried to "improve" it with some sort of fluffly pillow-top, but bottom line is that bed is a KILLER. If there were some sort of "add-on" improvement, I'd GLADLY buy it! Describe the label and I'll go huntin'!

And I really hope they put them at SSR -- ditto for BWV and all the resorts -- my boys have sleeper sofa detail this August!

The one I got at Sam's is the TempSoma Mattress Topper from Sleep Innovations out of Long Branch, NJ. I paid $105 for a queensize. It's only 2 inches thick but seems adequate and I am not a teeny person.

I am trying to figure how to shove it in the minivan when we travel... :)

Glad you liked the sofa bed at OKW. I was really comfy last December sleeping on the sofa bed at BWV.

We bought ours at the local Stein Mart's. It was the Perfect Sleeper by Carpenter. Ours is 3" thick. The original price was around $169.00, but we picked it up for $79.99 (King Size).

When we were researching the mattresses, we learned that thickness is not as much an issue as the density of the foam. I think that ours is a 4 (out of 5).

I checked out the linked website for the memory foam mattresses. The sofa bed matress at OKW didn't looked like that probably because they were custom as someone pointed out.

They were 3 separate foam mattresses so that the bed could fold away. But there was no way to feel the seam at all when lying down.

Maybe someone staying at DVC or going soon can take some pictures of the sofa bed mattress?

I wished that I had thought of taking pictures of them when I was there!
