Those of you who have dieted and gone to WDW.

I am constantly dieting and working out. I try to watch everything I eat and I try to get to the gym pretty regular....My whole opinion on the WDW trip and dieting is this...I figure that all year long when I am home I try to watch everything I eat as best as I can BUT when I am on vacation which is probably about 2 trips a year....I do NOT diet at all. I may still WATCH what I eat BUT for the most part my habits throughout the year allow me to say "I am on vacation and I am going to enjoy myself"!!! I know that soon enough I will be back home and I will be back to my dieting and working out. The other positive aspect of a WDW vacation is like most of the Posters have said that all the walking allows you to really not feel all that bad when it is 2pm and you are in the MK eating your 3rd Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Bar and you know that in a few hours you will be eating again at OHANA's...hahaha....

HEY, go to WDW and enjoy yourself.

Three years ago I went when I was at my WW goal (50#s down). I actually lost some "extra" weight before I went in anticipation of eating whatever I wanted there.

I truly believed in the end I would break even with all the walking. Instead I gained 4 pounds. I think most of that was due to the volcano dessert at Rainforest!

Good luck! Hey, that was the most fun 4 pounds I ever gained. ;)

I am always watching my weight and always on vacation :rotfl:

I have a few things that help me and may help you. I do not think of myself as ever on a diet, I just eat healthy. So first get the word "diet" out of your brain :thumbsup2

For breakfast some smart choices: Eggs benedict (my way) no butter on english muffin, no sauce. It is healthy because it is 1 english muffin, 2 poached eggs and canadian bacon total cals = 350, round it out wiht fresh fruit and you have a great breakfast. Egg white omlette with veggies and 1 slice dry toast or oatmeal and fruit. A kids portion of Mickey waffles and fruit are also great choices. Keep away from regular bacon and sausage...loaded with cals, fat and salt. Also drink water or unsweetened iced tea with lemon instead of juice with your breakfast.

Grab a snack of fruit, apple small orange or a melon cup and drink lots of water. Don't wait to have a piece of fruit have it 2-3 hours after breakfast. Apples are espically good, they make you feel full.

Lunch is not tricky at all. I always get a salad no cheeses or fattening stuff, with dressing on the side, any kind of dressing and grilled chicken, shrimp or fish. Dip your fork into the dressing first then into the salad. You will not be using a lot of dressing but you will have all the flavor. Shrimp cocktail and a veggie salad is also good.

Between lunch and dinner I usually have another snack...fruit or a dole whip *no vanilla* there are actually lots of fun stuff you can eat...cotton candy is fat free and low in calories, dark chocolate is better for you than milk chocolate.

Dinner has no rules....I have drinks, always a big salad, and anything I want to eat lean protein - fish, chicken, steak...no fatty sauces. Dessert is always shared with DH .

If you splurge and have a cheeseburger or ice cream- enjoy - not just while on vacation but in everyday life.

For the most part avoid anything that is too salty, fried, sauteed, smothered, creamed etc...

Drink lots of fluids and eat something every 3 hours (fruit, cereal bar etc) before you get hungry and allow yourself 1 splurge meal per day since you are walking lots of miles. 2 healthy meals and 1 splurge meal will keep you feeling good and you will lose weight without even knowing it.

I used to work for Jenny Craig, so I was trained on meal planning.

I am on WW and just returned from Disneyland. I have always found on Diseny vacations that the walking is monumental in not gaining weight. I also suggest to drink as much water as you can hold. Each day, as soon as I get up at DL/WDW I drink 24 oz. of water. Also, I find the buffets to be easier to do well on. I start out with a huge salad and they always have some sort of simply prepared meat that isn't too bad. I also ate a 2 pts. bar last week before Goofy's Kitchen (just like Chef Mickey's) and it really helped. All in all, just do as others have stated, enjoy the good food, try to share the fattening stuff like desserts, drink water and have fun! Incidentally I gained about 5 pounds at Disneyland but it was off within two days. I always bloat up when I fly.

I was just there and I'm on WW too. What I did was make sure I walked A LOT and I ended up only gaining 2 pounds. But that might have been avoided if I hadn't pigged out on chicken fingers and fries at the airport when we came home LOLOLOL!!!!!!!

I also substituted veggies instead of fries, or salad instead of a greasy side dish. However, I did eat 2 zebra domes...SO GOOD. First night actually I visited the buffet dessert area 3 times.

We went in October on the free dining plan, and ate like hogs. None of the 3 of us gained any weight because we were in constant motion the whole time we were there. We did come home exhausted, though.

What? FREE DINING PLAN? How did you get that??

:confused3

i tried i really tried, hubby and i got one meal( appe, entree and dessert) and split it( with old kvl vouchers) i walked my self ragged but still managed to gain over 5 lbs...if i could have just had blinders on when we walked past all the stinking bakeries. :teeth:

i was pleasantly surprised though that most places had a ww friendly meal, even most counter places had something other than just a salad i could get. i'm not a fan of fries so that wasn't something i normally eat and we rarely go to just burger type counter places, more food court type counter places where choices are better.

however, to put that all in perspective, i evidently have the slowest metabolism know to man and gain with no problem but sticking to ww completely i might lose 1/4 lb during a good week. ( trying Sonoma now we will see how that goes)
