Those new 100% compostable chip bags...

sure are loud!

I bought a bag of Sun Chips in the new packaging this week, and let me just say, nobody will be sneaking a late night snack out of THAT bag. There is even a disclosure on the back of the bag: "This bag is LOUDER BECAUSE is it compostable."

I had some Sun Chips with my sandwich this afternoon and my husband hollered down from the second floor, "Could you keep the noise down, I'm trying to work up here!" Of course he was joking, but he did hear the bag being opened and closed.

Anyone else come across these bags? I'd try to describe the noise, but I can't think of anything they sound like.

Its so funny that you mention that. LOL. We bought a bag over the weekend. We decided we wanted a snack after my 21 month old went to bed and boy that bag sure was loud!

I'm concerned about a bag that has a warning label for how loud the bag will be. Will the Noise Pollution regulatory commission be going after those bags?

Too Funny! I guess anything can be found on youtube! I like the clip where the guy hauls out a bag of Sun Chips and his co-worker hauls out earplugs/earphones.

Just bought my 1st recyclable bag of Sun Chips last week. I'm all for going green but I will NOT be buying them again!! I like to "save" my snacking for after the kids go to bed (ok, really, so I don't have to share them or they'd be gone in 5 minutes!)....and there is NO WAY I can eat these quietly!!

We bought them once so far in the new bag. No sneaking was the first thing I thought of when picking up the bag in the store.

Can you imagine being the person stocking the shelf? I hope they issue ear protection.

I've since switched to the Pringles Multi-Grain cheese flavor. They are nice and quiet.

I have been meaning to post the same thing for weeks now, but I kept forgetting. They are the noisiest bag I have ever heard! I missed the disclosure, they must have received calls of concern about it!

No sneaking a snack now!

I wonder why they couldn't add some of the paper pulp which makes toilet paper? Isn't toilet paper compostable? Can you imagine if it's NOT and toilet paper is changed to this same stuff the Sun Chips bags are made out of?

One YouTube video showed a guy crunching on a chip after crumpling the bag. The bag was 5 times as loud. I'm sorry, but the loudest crunching I hear should be what's going on in my head, not the bag.

They are loud, but I will still buy them I am happy that they are at least trying to be "Green".
I will just pour them into a bowl if the noise bothers me that much

Then you have to wash a greasy bowl, and that soapy/greasy water goes down the drain. Heat will be used to heat your water, assuming you used warn or hot water. How is that helping to be green?

To be honest the noise Doesn't bother me and if it did one time I would wash the bowl I wash 20 dishes a day or more so really one more bowl in my already soapy water isn't gonna make a difference IMO

My DD says her DH would know if anybody touched the bag -- he hears all. She says she will buy them and them put them in a resealable container instead of leaving them in their original bag.
