We are planning to visit in May Georgia. I was wondering if we need a four drive or is a normal town car good enough to drive through the mountains?
I have really no idea because in my country the biggest hill is a molehill. :lmao:

They have paved roads and everything in Georigia....

Honestly there is no place in America where you need a four wheel drive if you plan to stay on the road and it's not snowing.

And if you take a rental car "off roading" four wheel drive or not, it's not an authorized use of the car and the rental car company can, and will, hold you accountable!

A traditional passenger car will be fine for travel on all Interstate highways, state roads, and local roads.

There should be no need for a four wheel drive vehicle.

Not sure about which mountains you might travel across, but if your car will be filled with at least 3 adults and lots of luggage, you might want to rent a car with a V-6 instead of a 4 cylinder engine. Gas presently costs about 3 dollars a gallon right now and may be about 15 percent more expensive during our summer travel season. You might get 3-4 mpg less, but the car will not be sluggish while going through the mountains.

Georgia has some mountains in the north end of the state as you get to Tennessee and North Carolina both of which have more and bigger mountains than Georgia, but as others have said there's no real reason why you would need anything more than a regular car if you stick to the roads.I did drive a rental car from San Francisco to Lake Tahoe where we probably hit 9,000-10,000 foot elevations and at certain times in the highway I had to have my foot down all the way on the gas of the poor Chrysler to keep the it at least going 50-55 mph.

You will have no problem in the mountains with any normal vehicle. There are short steep stretches you will want to go slower on to save on gas and brakes but otherwise, no issues at all. Enjoy the trip.

Off roading? O not a hair on my head is even thinking of doing that:scared1:

Thank you for all the answers. As said, living in a country behind dikes and under sea level even a molehill counts as a mountain.
Now I'm ready to book our car.

Thank you. One of the things we smile the most about is filling up the tank. Its almost like "stealing" :lmao:
In my country ONE LITER gas is 1.6 Euro but in a few days, with all the problems in the middle East, it will raise up to two Euro's without a doubt.
