I don't know why people buy these for their children!
Our neighbor has one. He is around 4 years old.
He doesn't have a bike but he has a motorized vehicle.
He doesn't seem to get any exercise, he's always "driving" this car around.
It makes a constant horrible screeching sound.
It's cool enough to have our windows open in South Florida today!
It would be a joy except this boy has been going up and down the sidewalk on this thing since 7:30 this morning.
I've been awake since 5:00 but my daughter was trying to sleep.
What is wrong with some people?:(

My kids had those cars when they were that little. The didn't lack for exercise though, they played around the car, in the car...played "mechanic" It was great for their imagination!

I will say they were not out at 7 in the morning though. That's just ridiculous!

I know a few kids with these cars. Some of them are physically handicapped and the car has made them like the other kids on the block. It is so neat to see some of my students riding around and not in their wheelchairs.

My son LOVES his powerwheels!! It has been really great for him too! ( and he does not lack for exercise!) Since the day he was born, he has been a 'driver'. I can't imagine him NOT having that thing!

Now, I would NOT let him out that early in the morning.... And, his too can make a noise. Perhaps you could get some wd40 and offer to help your neighbor treat the problem! :D :D :D

My kids always wanted one of these but I never gave in. I think they need to be pedaling or roller blading or getting around by their own power. I think your neighbors are really rude to let their child out on it at 7am!

That early, on Sunday!! Uggghhhhh!!!

Okay, just had to post here. I am the one who posted how my son LOVES his Powerwheels. ( He has the ATV model ) He can maneuver that thing better than any truck driver or equipment operator!!! He LOVES it, and is riding it right now!!! ( note: it is 10:20am here... we are getting ready to head out the door...) Anyhow, to continue, he uses his powerwheels very imaginatively, it has been every kind of equipment you could think of. He sometimes hooks up his wagon, or wheelbarrow, etc. behind it, and goes to work! It keeps him outside, active, in the sunshine and fresh air!

So, NO it does NOT deprive him of any excercise, imagination, mental stimulation, or ANYTHING else!!! for the third time, my son LOVES his ATV... It has been one of the very best things DH and I have ever bought for him, and we have considered it a priceless investment!!! ( DH keeps a picture on his desk, of our son, riding on his ATV, with that mile-wide smile on his face! AS far as the noise... Yes, boys are sometimes noisy. A regular bicycle can possibly be equipped with horns, sirens, clicker things on the wheels, etc.. etc.. or, naturally, the kids own sound-effects!

Anybody who is maligning a Powerwheels as a toy, obviously has NEVER owned one, or had a child who LOVED theirs to death!!!

The issue here is the early AM noise... This is a 'parent' problem, with common consideration..... NOT a 'toy' problem!

If it seems possible, and would not likely cause too much ill-will.... speak nicely with your neighbor, and offer the WD40 suggestion, in case that may help... Otherwise, just chalk it up to inconsiderate neighbors... And, to others, please stop maligning a wonderful toy that millions of children and parents love!! Based NOT on experience, but a somewhat narrow pre-judgement.

Okay, climbing off my HUGE soapbox now!
Have to drag my son off his ATV and head out of here or we'll be late! :D :D :D

I wonder if the parents even knew he was outside that early? Too bad kids don't appreciate sleep until they are teenagers!

Sorry I still stand by my decision for my kids, they need to be getting around on their own power, not riding a motorized vehicle. Now that they are 12, 10 and 8, the middle child wants an ATV, he is not getting one of those either.

KAllison,
Hey, too each his own! You are free to make the decisions that you feel are best for your kids. And I will do the same. Would be nice however if negative judgments weren't made!

Montessori, hope tomorrow morning goes better!! If this toy is new, yes, the kid will be waking up, raring to go on that thing, for quite a while. Then, you will probably see the situation and the hours improve! :D
