So my friend is running her first Half Marathon (the Tinker Bell) in just a few weeks, and asked me for some extra tips. Thus far, I've told her:

Make sure to use the restroom before you leave your house, and check the map to see when the last in-park restroom was if she didn't want to have to use a Port-a-Potty.

Start drinking lots of water now.

Figure out her outfit the night before and lay it all out together so it's easier to change that morning.

Put food she'll definitely need in her checked bag (Banana, bagel, etc.- in case they don't have anything shed like in the post-race box if they do that again).

Any other tips I should pass on to her?

I would offer hydrate well rather than drink lots.. Easy to over hydrate also. The last week pre-race, think about one extra glass if water daily

Yesterday I bought a regular size bodyglide as well as a travel size mini bodyglide.I'll probably use 3/4 of the regular size one in the morning putting it everywhere and anywhere on my body. The travel sized one is going in my pocket on Sunday for the marathon. If at any point I feel any kind of chafing or blister I'm whipping that mini bodyglide out.My goals for the marathon are to avoid chafing or blisters,go slow, don't get hurt, finish and have fun.

Where did you find a travel size?:thumbsup2

Sports Authority in a rack in the middle of a shoe aisle.I think the regular sized one was $10 and the travel sized one which is like 1/5th the size was $8,but if you're going to attempt to run a marathon and you're in mile 18 with some chafing starting you would pay $50 for it if you had to.
