The Toad ride (whatever it's called) but do remember Eastern (?) Airlines exhibit which I loved. 20,000 Leagues was an ok one for me but DH loved that one. I remember the Jungle Cruise back then and actually remembered the dialogue when we went back in 2001. Anyway, trying to remember some of the original attractions that aren't there now.

As far as re-makes....used to love Tiki Bird but it is so lame now.

I went in 1981 for my honeymoon, but had been earlier as a kid. I loved 20,000 leagues, but I guess it was a very time consuming ride. I also miss the ski lift.

I loved riding the double decker bus on main street and World Showcase. I don't see them anymore~

I miss Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, If You Had Wings by Eastern Airlines, I miss the old version of Carousel of Progress, The old version of the Tikki Room.

I, too, miss the old Tiki Room! Bring it back! :(

" old Carousel of progress"? I didn't know there was a remake.
hmmmmm Learned something new today. :)

The big change to me in Carousel of Progress (one of my fave rides!) was the song change.

They went from the the old background song of "Now is the time, now is the best time, now is the best time of your life, there's so much to cheer for, be glad you're here for, it's the best time of your life" (yeah, i loved that song!)

To

"There's a great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day, there's a great big beatiful tomorrow, and tomorrow is just a dream away"

I dont know if there was a change in the actual scenery or dialogue, though perhaps in the last/future scene.

As for the overall thread topic, there are a lot of old rides I miss:

Old Tiki Room
Horizons: i love the whole ride especially the choose your own ending!
GM: World of Motion: "It's fun to be free"
Old Figment ride with Dreamfinder
Kitchen Kabaret!

And of course, my namesake, Dreamflight. I really do like Buzz Lightyear, don't get me wrong, but Dreamflight was special to me :)

Me too :)

And it was so true to me. Cause "Now is the time, now is the best time, now is the best time of your life" always was true cause I was in Disneyworld as that music played! :)

Speaking of the Tiki room...Was the original show at Walt Disney World from 1971 identical to the Disneyland version? I know they were very similar. Can anyone elaborate? Thanks

D~

I loved the old COP song too. Didn't the scenary change a little? I don't remember them talking about the holidays before.

actually I believe it a great big beautiful tomorrow is the original song from 1964 world's fair. They had someone write a new song for the parks "now is the time". Then they changed it back to original its a great big beautiful tomorrow which is my favorite ride and song. ;)

Yeah, i think i heard that too actually. Then they changed it to the "now is the time" for the parks.

But im pretty sure I saw old video somewhere of Walt Disney and the two composers of the "Great big beatiful tomorrow" song singing together and talking about the ride and the World's Fair :)

I do like both songs, but I kind of have more nostalgia for the "Now is the time" cause that was the song when I was a kid going there :)

I'm gonna miss 20,000 Leagues. I remember going to Disney when I was in the 4th grade and waiting in a LONG line on a VERY hot day to ride. I begged my mom and dad to leave and let us go back to the pool and swim, but of course we stayed and rode. I loved it, and will miss not being able to share that story with my kids as we wait in line. Who knows, if this were open today, it could have been a Fast Pass ride anyhow. I think I will make my kids wait, too if they complain about being too hot. I think that's the only reason I really remember that specific ride.

Ok, I haven't been to DW except when I was 3 and again when I was 22 or so, I think it was in 1991? Anyway, in those 20 years, and having only been there as a little kid, I was amazed that some of the rides were SO FAMILIAR!! It was kinda weird, cause there were no pictures of our trip those 19 years earlier, yet I totally remembered going up and down this ramp over and over again way back when. When we went in 91, I got to a ramp and KNEW it was the ramp I had played on 20 years before.

There were quite a few things that I remembered even though it had been so long between. We stayed at the campgrounds both times, and I recognized parts of the campground even. Everyone says I have a great memory, but this even surprised me, and gives me hope that my own children will remember parts of Disney. Of course they will have tons of pictures to help them along!

Nora, hated it in 91, planning on loving it April 22 - May 1 as a parent of 2.5 dd and 5dd

the one that sticks in my mind is the old "Mission to Mars" ride . It is where the current "Stich" ride is now.

The big hook for this ride was a vibrating seat *** you went into lift off.

Heh - I remember it as "Mission to the Moon"! Also, I ate with my parents at the Papeete Bay Veranda at the Polynesian and the "Top of the World" at the Contemp. Of course, there's the skyway....
