i have spent over $500 on perennial plants and the darn rabbits are eating them all. Does anyone know how to keep them away from my garden?

Same thing kept happening to me so years ago I started buying my flowers at ACMoore:rotfl: No more squirrel or rabbit problem. I bought geraniums. My neighbor even commented at how nice they looked and where did I get them. I was laughing because I thought she knew they were silk but she didn't

marigolds rabbits don't like them and hot pepper spray but you have to spray

them every time it rains or watering these two things have worked for me in the

past...

liquid fence works around here - it doesn't smell so great but does seem to keep all the animals out of our garden. DH also put pieces of Irish Spring soap on stakes in the garden and that seems to work for the deer. One came up to the garden - smelled the air and went over to another section of the yard.

Do you mean if I intersperse the marigold throughout the garden they will stay away or do you mean that they will not eat just the marigolds but will still eat the other plants? Also, where can I get hot pepper spray please? Thank you. I have worked so hard and spent over $1300 on this new garden and the rabbits are wreaking havoc with it.

Rabbits have been eating my plants too. They ate all our tomato plants and green peppers. We had to purchase new plants and then put caging around them. I tried to put Irish Springs soap around the plants as I read online, but they seemed to like my soap:confused3
They also enjoyed my petunia plants. Plants are expensive! They have not bothered my marigolds yet. My son caught one in a cage and since we live on a farm, he took it to the other end of the farm. I'm sure he probably just hopped back! They have taken over my yard this year. I have never had a problem with rabbits before and again we live in a rural area with woods right behind my home.

I was told human hair sprinkled thru garden works.

Liquid fence works well, it does smell but they have stayed away from my flowers this year.

Your post reminded me that since we moved to Minnesota two years ago I haven't seen a rabbit once. In Iowa we had them ALL THE TIME and like you couldn't have a garden.

DS made a scrambled egg and water solution and left it in a spray bottle a few days, then sprayed my plants.

Onions also seem to work. Sprinkle the sets among your other plants. The benefit here is that you'll end up with a vegetable you can use at the end of the season.

I buy the big containers of Black pepper or Red pepper flakes at Bj's and sprinkle it around.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I will try them.

What is and where do I get liquid fence?

I am so bummed. i have worked so hard on my garden and spent so much money. So far including everything that I have done so far I have spent $1300 and I still need more mulch and rocks and so forth and the rabbits have eaten a lot of my $500 worth of flowers as well as my other gardens. They have eaten a little bit years before but this year it is crazy. So disappointing.

When we do veggie garden I do ring of marigold around the outside of the beds and the rabbits dont eat my plants, plus i spray hot pepper sauce on green beans because they seem to love that veggie the most.. i think i was doing one large bottle of reds hot sauce in spray bottle fill the rest up with water.

hair only worked for deer didnt work for rabbits. good luck they are such a pain.

if you dont have to have perfect grass you can always plant some clover away from you flowers for next year they love clover

We got ours at Agway one year, Ace hardware another - there is also a similar product that is similar called Deer B Gone. Don't know what is in it but it doesn't smell nice while you are putting it on and apparently an animal might take one bite and then not come back for more if the smell doesn't drive them off in the first place.

Is the liquid fence for rabbits and not deer? Do I have to respray after every watering and rain that we have? Thank you.

We only respray about once a month or if there is a really hard rain. I think it works for most animals.

We used to have rabbit problems, but now the coyotes eat them. My monkey grass is bigger this year than it's ever been!
