Those 3D glasses to use during fireworks?

I was just wondering how to get some of those 3D glasses that make the Mickey silhouettes in the fireworks. I've heard people talking about them, but I can't figure out where to get them! I know I've heard brides talking about having them at dessert parties. Are they not available to everyone?

We're going to WDW with some friends who have two little boys (it will be their first trip!) in May, and I think they would all love that!

Any ideas?

I've never heard of those. I know they have 3D glasses for the Osbourne Lights(if you have an AP), but I haven't heard about them for fireworks. Which park?

I have ordered them before at www.holidayspecs.com. They have them for fireworks and they also have some for looking at Christmas lights which are pretty fun too. I couldn't keep them on that long looking at fireworks but some of the kids thought they were pretty cool.

I don't know that they are park/fireworks specific. I read about them on a TR here. I have saved some pictures somewhere... I'll try to find them and update.

I actually have some from the Osbourne Lights, but I don't think they'd care about seeing angels in the fireworks in May. lol :goodvibes

Hopefully we can find out more about the Mickey ones! :wizard:

I did not read OP correctly - I saw only 3D. I have never heard of Mickey ones. But it would make sense for Disney to sell them for $5 every night!

That company that PP posted actually has a little movie - one of the pairs of glasses said "MGM Studios" on it, and another one had Mickey Mouse heads. So I wonder if Disney orders from them?

Those look pretty neat!

We got those Mickey fireworks glasses. They were great! pixiedust:

The ones I'm talking about make each point of light in the fireworks into a Mickey head.

This is how we got them:

Walking through Epcot, a castmember saw my DD's mouth was bleeding.

What had happened was my DW swung her hand around, not realizing DD was behind her, got her right in the mouth, and managed to knock out two teeth that were loose, and blood was gushing everywhere. We managed to find both teeth, which were on the floor, and took DD to the bathroom to clean up. But, five minutes later, she was still bleeding a bit, when the CM saw her.

We explained what happened, and the CM told DD that she deserved something special from Tinker Bell for losing two teeth, as Tink is friends with the tooth fairy. So, she made a call on her walkie-talkie, and said that we should head over to the Wall by Britain prior to Illuminations, and that Tink would have left our names there, and a suprise. As we said thank you to the CM, the CM said, "You're welcome, and after all, this is the year of a milion dreams."

So, we go to the Wall a few mintutes for Illuminations began. The person by the gate to the wall had our names, and as we came in, they handed us the glasses.

It was really amazing. My DD couldn't beleive it, and the view for Illuminations was great, and no crowds near us.

But, we're not bringing the glasses with us again. For us, that was a "once in a lifetime" event, and we want to remember it that way. Also, they're paper glasses, and we're afraid of them getting damaged.

just as a sidebar since it was mentioned, last year the osborne glasses did return after a hiatus, but they weren't for AP holders only. AP holders got them free, but they could be bought by anyone for $1.

I've thought disney could make a killing selling 3D glasses for fireworks for years hadn't thought about mickey ones tho that's even COOLER!!!

A family nest to us, wahtching Illuminations) had them, they were kind enogh to show them to us and let my kids use them, they told me that the husbad got the glasses in a special package for his company convention at WDW.
A couple of days later saw a CM giving them away to people in a VIP area At EPCOT) to what the fireworks, I asked for on but been told that was only for people of that "company" :(
so there is no way to buy them!

OK, I'll just have to admit to being stupid. How do 3D glasses make something that is already 3D, more 3D? If it's there it should be able to be seen without special glasses. To save money has Disney decided it is cheaper to project the fireworks into the night sky instead of actually firing them off? :confused3

Is it maybe a mis-representation of 3D and is actually something else like a color filter or something like that? I am surely confused? And, yes, you can call me Surely! :rotfl:

They are also given out to those attending the 3D Dessert Discovery event during F&W fest (a paid special event during the F&W fest).
They haven't been available for the Osborne lights for about two years now. They really don't make it 3D - they do make each light have several Mickey heads around it. It is really a great effect - the fireworks look like they are all Mickeys.
We have a couple of pair as we have done the 3D Dessert Discovery two years now and have a set from the Osborne lights when they were giving them out to AP holders.

They were given to us in November of 2010 when we booked the 3D Dessert Party during the F&WF. First, many desserts. Then we were taken to a roped off viewing area for IllumiNations and were given the (paper) glasses. They were pretty cool, but we couldn't leave them on the whole time.

I've seen something similar to what the OP is talking about, and they're not really 3D glasses, They're just made the same way with paper frames and plasticy lenses. The ones I've seen are sold in Christmas shops, and when you look at the Christmas lights it puts a shape around each light, like an angel or a Mickey head.

Kind of like these.

To just prove that you can teach an old dog new tricks, there it is. Not really 3D (kind of deceiving that) but enhanced. Cool! Might see if I can try that sometime. I'm going next week! Where can they be purchased? How much?

This is a shot taken through my special glasses a few years ago. They were given out, a few years prior to that, for some special function. Someone gave them to me as a gift. They were pretty cool. I took the shot during Wishes.

Yes they make the fireworks even more 3Der.

Actually they are etched in a way that puts like mickey shaped halos around points of light.

I used to have a filter for my 35 mm camera that put star bursts around any bright points of light.

It looks sort of like this.
