Thomson vent

We had booked to go to Salou this summer flying from our local aiprport with thomson holidays. Yesterday in the local paper it said that thomson had cancelled all its flights from our airport. So I rang thomson and they knew nothing about it:confused3 :confused3 . Anyway I rang the airport and they confirmed that they had known for 3 weeks, so rang thomson back and a very nice lady tried to help me. She phoned head office and got it confirmed my flights are gone. The alternatives are a full refund or fly from somewhere else which is 4 hours away. if the cost is dearer we have to pay the difference.

I'm not happy but would fly from the other airport but my mum and dad are coming too and my dad is a very bad traveller.

Anyway waiting for thomson to phone me back but looks like I'm going to have to find another holiday unless I can convince my dad to travel down to the other airport

Shouldn't Thomson pay the difference since you booked/paid for the holiday in good faith and they cancelled the flights? I would have thought they would have to provide alternative flights at the same price. :confused3
BTW what airport was it?

Read about this in another thread. Seems that with the credit crunch flights that are not full are being combined or cancelled.

As its more than 56 days before our holiday they are entitled to do so. Its in the T/C.

It was inverness airport
 
Not the best customer service.

Hope you get it sorted with a flight that suits you.

Had thomson back on phone and they say we have to fly from glasgow, get to stay in same hotel as originally planned but have to have 3 rooms instead of 2. We would only be flying out 1 day earlier but they say we can't keep our original rooms:confused3. I thought we might have had a problem with our 1st night but you would think the rest of the holiday would be ok as we already have them booked:confused3. Seems like they have to cancel our original booking and make a new one which means we loose our rooms. Why they can't just transfer them I don't know.

Will NOT be booking with thomson again.

What a hassle! :headache: Can you reschedule your holiday time OK like that? I know it's only 1 day but depending on where you work (like me!) that could be a problem!
