Thomson or Virgin? Help??!!

There are other options. We always fly scheduled - not a fan of charter flights. However we tend to use US Airways and have becpome frequent flyers with them. Although not direct flights (most go through Philadelphia) the prices seem considerably less than those of Virgin and BA - and we've even got enough loyalty miles to afford an upgrade on our return flight last year.

Not everyone is prepared to fly indirect - but you can save a fortune if you do, especially if your dates are flexible.

Again with children this is not a good option. With direct flights you only need to board a plane once and you're there (hopefully).
Without kids it could be a good option especially if you could spend say a day in somewhere like Philly.

We flew with Virgin last October, and it was pretty good compared to the other airlines we have flown with, but not as good as Laker in 1997. But given there were 5 adults and 2 children in our party, and that the flights were about £100 more each than the other airlines, I am questioning the logic of having a nicer flight for 8 hours, when that £500 could have gone a long way towards holiday spending money.
Ive recently got the First Choice brochures, and they show the new planes, which look very nice, We are booking imminently for May 2006, and will probably give them a try.

Virgin. I’ve never found Orlando International that hard to get through on arrival – usually an hour but there’s plenty to see and do there, and it’s ideal when returning home as there are so many options on what to do and plenty of space. Our in laws travelled with Britannia through Sanford last year and vowed never to again. Personally if I could travel there with Britannia and back with Virgin that would be the ideal option as you get out of Sanford a lot quicker on the way there. I find space and service and the flight not a problem on your way to Orlando as you’ve had a good nights sleep, it’s a day flight and you’re excited about the holiday. However on the way back you’re on a downer because you’re on your way home, you have a night flight to look forward to – I can never sleep on these, and you’ve been awake all day already – definitely prefer Virgin for this leg of the journey.
