***Thompson offer $2 - £1***

I've heard Thomas Cook are going to be repeating their offer again soon!

Yes they will be, phone your local branch and ask them, I did before i knew about thompsons offer, TC said as it had been so successful they will be repeating it again very soon.

thanks so much for posting this terrific offer Netty!
I went early this morning after phoning to reserve some. I got ours and my dad's and took my MIL with me for hers and between us we wiped out our local branch of cash, and most of their TC's.
It's a huge saving as we spent over £2500 between us.
Thanks again! Dee

It is a huge saving on todays rate but just remember it might not be as good as it looks.
Check the figures, £2,500 invested earning 5% per annum will lose approx £125 interest between now and you travelling if you are not going for 6 months. Also as with all currencies they can go either way, 6 months time could possilby be better than today. Compare it with using Nationwide credit card which dont carge for using abroad.
It might look good but buying currency is always a gamble. It is the best rate about just now but I am keeping my money invested, maybe a mistake, nobody knows.:goodvibes

Just back from collecting mine, no problems got some in cash and some travellers cheques - 26 days to go before i can start spending them!!!

Big thanks again or the info Netty

Cool - Were there and got ours at 9.00am.

We were waiting outside for the staff to open the doors of their Crewe branch....sad I know.

Anyway they only found out in the store yesterday lunchtime that they were doing the offer. They only had $20 notes -so it is some pile of cash.....

Great deal.

I`ve got some ordered to collect tomorrow when they get more $`s in, but they can only give i to me in cash! really wanted mostly TC`s just for a bit more security, but then it is $2 - we go in 10 weeks.

Do many of you tend to take loads of notes and do you feel ok about it?

Any idea when Thomas Cook are doing it again?

Thanks

you would think that the branches would order more stock for these offers :confused3

I have never had a problem with lots of cash in my wallet, I have my own business with a lot of cash so think nothing of carrying £1,000+ around with me if we go shopping. After last weekend I will think twice in future maybe split the money with DW instead of me having it all or try use credit cards more.
We went to Amsterdam and I lost my wallet (got it back with everything in from East Midlands Airport) only had around £500-£600 in but very inconvenient, stuck in Amsterdam airport with no cash or cards for 3 hours.
Your best option is Nationwide credit card which is still giving $1.98/£ hopefully more when you travel, TC's if you want to change now, lots of cash really is last option for security.

the lovely lady at my local branch says they were only told of the offer last thing Thurs night (started Fri) so didn't have the chance to order in extra stock and just had to use their usual stock.

Ahhh that explains that !!

I was disspointed as I checked online yesterday to check if the store was open today but when I went there this afternoon closed. I wish I went yesterday.

Went back tonight and my friendly Thomson girl had kept some $$ aside for me, as promised! :cool1:

Anyone know when this offer or the Thomas Cook offer might be back? I'm after some more dollars but want to hold out for the 2:1 rate again. :goodvibes

Thats what they told me! So i said oh TC are running it again next weekend (bit of a blag) any chance you can honour the rate for me for when you get some in? "Sorry" she said "but i will take your contact details as we are more than likely running it next weekend!"
Anyway she phoned last night and said that we can go in on tuesday and pick up the amount I wanted at $2 rate:banana: :cool1:
Got cool savings on PS3 and camcorder by being a bit cheeky, wonder if it will work in tesco:rotfl2:

They will still have made a profit, just not as much as they do from people that dont haggle. I got over £4,000 off a £12,000 brand new van in March, overheard someone else only saving £2,000 they thought they had a bargain.:thumbsup2
If you buy online from Tesco here is a code to get you £5 off if you spend £50 on groceries (I think it still works) XX-BOT7
Never pay full price for anything, how do you think I go to US 4 times a year?:goodvibes
