Netty, is there a minimum purchase do you know?
Thompson are doing $2 to the £1 this weekend!!!
I have just phoned our local branch to ask , she said they only have £5000 worth of dollars left, they have sold £20,000 just today.
I'll be there tomorrow morning as soon as it opens!
Thanks for the heads up - how do you all find out about theses offers?
Sorry, but I just have a few question if anyone knows the answers - it's definately Thompsons, not TC?
Is it just TC's (like Thomas Cook last weekend)? or is it cash or either?
Do you know if there's a comission or other charge?
TIA, Dee
Is it just travellers cheques or cash as well? Its definetly Thompsons and not Thomas Cook.
I phoned Thompsons and the girl said they will accept cash,or cards etc.
I doubt very much if theres a charge- they are just competing with TC's offer last weekend.
Is it just travellers cheques or cash as well?
Yep, you can have both tc and cash. Bought mine today. Bit of a nightmare when purchasing though. I hold an 'Abbey' debit card and I found out today that Abbey will not allow a purchase of £300 or more on currency using thier debit card. I had to get £1,500 cash from their counter service (that was hard work too, they have a limit of £500 per day) Got it in the end though, excellent deal![]()

Last weekend, Thomas Cook were allowing customers to pay on the day in order to claim the $2:£1 rate, and then collect the TCs when they came back in-stock the following week. Are Thomson not allowing this?Mixed results for me:
1st stop - city centre branch of Thomson who had only $64 dollars in stock by 9:10 am because their first customer had more-or-less cleared them out! The girl said I was welcome to the $64, so I bought them - then found out I hadn't got the $2 rate because I hadn't spent £1,000! I had naiively assumed the rate would be honoured because of the way I'd been offered what they had left. No big deal, and I couldn't be bothered to ask for a refund for the sake of £34
2nd stop - out of town branch who said they had £1,800 worth in stock and then discovered they hadn't ... but were (very spookily!) $64 short for me to spend the minumum £1,000. Was that the $64 I'd just bought from their other branch, LOL ??!! Anyway, they have put in writing their agreement to honour the $2 rate if I go back on Monday when they'll have some more dollars in stock

Fingers crossed ...
