Sorry can't help with definite info but you can leave the Magical Express you are not forced to use it. We are travelling with TCSignature and plan on using it to get to WDW but getting back to the airport via Virgins Downtown Disney check in and buses.

I think they are expecting you to make your own way back to the airport, could you cancel your car hire part and rebook with a company that will do either a hotel delivery or a downtown pick up?

Even though Alamo have a car hire place at Disney it may be that Thomas Cooks contract does not allow car hire collections there. I would ask them to clarify the reason.

Thanks for your replies. i tell you what ,im never booking with tsc again to get through to speak to them is a miracle and then you quue wait up to 30 mins not looking forward to my phone bill :furious: as ive never been to wdw before you just assume everything would be simple lol... anyway i think weve decided to use majical express as we;ll all be tired after trip and fetch car the next day hoping its not to far does anyone know is there a bus shuttle that takes you to airport?

soon be here :woohoo:

I don't think theres any company where you get straight through on the phone, so that's pretty much par for the course! I don't think there's a shuttle bus either, there is definately a Lynx bus but you have to change and it takes hours with all the stops to get there. Is there a chance you can ask if you can get the magical express back to the airport the next day to pick up the car? a taxi would probably cost around $50.

It is difficult to get through to tcs at the moment as I think they have changed location. Ring them back and ask again. You can pick up most cars from the car care centre. My car hire booking is with them and I'm collecting from there. Last year we wanted a 12 seater but they didn't have a contract for a 12 seater from there. If you just want a normal car it shouldn't be a problem.

Personally i'd just pick up the car from the airport on the day. I imagine that would be less stressful than making your way back there to pick it up. I know it's a bit daunting to think about driving straight off the flight (doing it for the first time myself next year!) but I really think it may be the easiest option in your situation.

Rather than ringing them up or trying to can you call in a Thomas Cook travel agents and let them do the sorting out. Our local TA has been very good with my queries and has even offered to let me use their phones to ring Virgin when I need to rather than ring from home.

You will lose most of the first morning by going back to the airport to collect your car. The best option if having a car is to pick it up when you arrive. It really isn't that bad we did for the first time this year and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. As you have the car it means you can get on enjoying everything WDW has to offer straight away without the hassle of collecting a car! :thumbsup2

Also with Magical Express you have to wait for them to deliver your luggage later but if you get the car and take it yourself at least then you can unpack and get settled in straight away.

Second year for us booking via Thomas Cook Shop (this year with a TCS holiday)....very bad experience both times; won't be getting another chance.

I am sure everything will be fine for you as I suspect my problems are more assoacited with the staff who work in the local shop combined with my bad luck. Some details to follow if you are interested, which is not a rant in any way, just a summary of facts.

This year we booked first week in WDW and second in Barbados based on a direct flight from Orlando to Barbados. Advised that although the plane stopped at Miami, we would stay on it. Found out by complete chance 6 weeks before going that we had another connecting flight from Miami to Barbados; we had 45 mins between landing in Miami and then boarding the next flight (and that Miama airport gets very bad write ups). Apparently there is no direct flight from Orlando to Barbados and also found out at the same time we would not get to our Barbados hotel until midnight!

Three months before flying we also found out by chance, via Trip Advisor, that the Barabaos hotel was having major construction work (120 new rooms) which had already over run by 3 months. There was significant over booking problems with incorrect allocation of rooms and people being sent to other hotels. For two months TC denied any such problems or building work despite me providing other tour operator sites publishing the building works and delays, and printouts of TA reports.

We booked Discovery Cove tickets on the basis that there was a free shuttle from WDW (checked this twice before booking the tickets as we were not having a car). On the morning of the visit to DC enquired at reception about pickup and needless to say no such shuttle existed from WDW (I should have guessed that really seeing as WDW & DC are competitors but it was our first ever WDW visit!). Phoned rep who wasn't interested as they had no record of my calls and said I would have to arrange my own transport.

Thought I would give them another chance when booking for next year and again have had bad customer service from the shop staff and problems in flight bookings and am currently in dispute with them over this.

Having said that we did have a really good holiday this year and TCS did price match the lowest price I could find. For every ad report there will no doubt be many good ones.

Have a great time.

are you able to cancel your car hire booking with TCS, because it would probably be cheaper to book it through another car rental company than through TCS, you could then arrange to pick the car up from the car care centre.

We have also booked through TCS and are booked on the magical express but i think we are going to cancel it and book car hire seperatly and pick the car up from the airport. I don't think i can be doing with the hassle of waiting for luggage to arrive and I'd like to stop at the supermarket on our way to the resort to get suplies in
