Hi

We are heading to the Thomas Cook Explorers Hotel in early April and I was wondering about a couple of things. Does anyone know if they have a safe in the rooms and also do they have kettles in the rooms?

Thanks :thumbsup2

Thanks Elaine, I am really looking forwards to our trip but starting to panic over the little things now :rotfl2:

Thanks Ross Jenkins, what did you think of the hotel? Any hints or tips would be appreciated :)

We haven't been for a few years but when we have stayed there we have always been perfectly happy with everything (see my signature, I think we've stayed there 5 times :rotfl2: ). Our rooms have always been clean and comfortable and the pool is nice for a swim. We've always taken an early breakfast slot at 7am to miss the crowds, once it gets to 8am it does get busy. I've never eaten an evening meal there as there's such a good choice in the parks or Disney Village but I hear the pizzas they sell in the atrium are good. Have a look at the Hotel FAQ on it as quite a few people have written reviews.

How did you find the temperature of the pool?

I have read many reviews saying it is freezing which has put me off staying here. I think I'd give it a try otherwise:goodvibes

I have to say I didn't find the pool cold at all at the Explorers, and its fabulous for kids, as one whole corner of it is a pirate playship with water buckets, sprays, fountains etc.

I would agree.

On a few occasions, we've done the Explorers for 1/2 nights at the start of our DLP visit. It's got a nice holiday atmosphere, the pool is open for long hours, and the pizzas are quite nice to. There is also a happy hour every evening with buy one get one free cocktails and beers :thumbsup2

Hi the hotel was good. Pool was warm compared to the magic circus and davey crockett ranch where I've stayed before. The kids gym is not very good but indoor play area is very good. Nice selection at breakfast but can get long queues from around 8.15 onwards. We had pizza takeaway. Two pizzas for 21 euros which isn't too bad and were nice. They do happy hour on drinks between 7 and 9 for lager and cocktails which makes drink reasonable. Overall very nice.

Well now I'm confused:confused3 The reason we were going to book Magic Circus over Explorers was because we stayed at the Magic Circus in August & the kids stayed in the pool for ages as they found it quite warm. Having read that the Explorers pool was freezing got me thinking I'd be better off at Magic Circus.

I guess it's because one person's too cold is another persons warm:confused3:confused:

Think I'll give the Explorers a go, as its quite a bit cheaper:goodvibes

I've spent time in both the pools at the Explorers and the Magic Circus with my DD, we were in both for at least an hour so neither could have been freezing, otherwise I wouldn't have been in them ;).

Hi
Am booked into the Explorer 13th-16th June. (and am ridiculously excited :yay: ) I've never been to DLP, but have been to Florida twice.

I have a couple of questions:

Kettle in the rooms? Is this in all rooms in the Explorer or just the bigger ones. (I am in a basic room-single traveller).
Mini fridge? is there one, and if not, is there an ice machine available? (am thinking of bringing a cool bag to keep milk etc in.)

Family will be staying in the Cheyenne. I had a look on google maps, with a view to walking over each morning to meet them. It doesn't look like there are paths. Would it be safe to walk? Or should I just get the shuttle to the station and walk from there?
Any tips gratefully appreciated.

there are kettles and tea-making provisions in all the rooms at the Explorers

you can walk but it would take at least 15 minutes I'd have thought (you walk to the end of the row of associated hotels, cross the road, walk to the Santa Fe then down through that hotel to the Cheyenne across the bridge).
I would get the shuttle from your hotel and meet your family at the bus station (thats where all the hotel shuttles drop off too) or near the entrance to the parks.

Any tips gratefully appreciated.

hope this helps :)

Thank you very much, all very useful info!
15 minutes doesn't seem that bad, but I might do the shuttle first.
