thiswebsite-has pers. info about you..i would remove yr name

Apparently I am single with no children and my house is worth over $1M. :lmao:

...but the worst part is, they got my Zodiac sign wrong. About the only accurate thing on that website is my name and address.

It did have the correct address and names for my mom and siblings but the rest was way off!!

They said our home is worth >1million...I wish!!
Yet at the same time they said our neighborhood is below average :rotfl:
They said my mom's a vet...she's a dental hygienist
They said I'm a scorpio...I'm a virgo!

ANYONE can find out what you paid for your house, it's public info on the county auditor's website. I'm guessing that's where a lot of the info comes from since it states we have a pool which you can also see from the auditor's website. If someone knows your name and what county you live in, they can find your address very easy if you're a homeowner.

One of my favorite things to do when I'm bored is cruise the Clerk of Courts website to see if anyone I know has been arrested for anything or owes back taxes. :rolleyes1 Yeah, I need a hobby.

That's kind of funny. It said I was in my mid twenties, which is close, but that I have lived in my house for 39 years. also apparently my house is worth 1Mil+....I guess the house market shot up since I bought in October!! :rotfl:

I just don't find this bothersome at all...certainly not enough so to bother with taking my info off. Pretty much the correct info is public knowledge and the other info isn't that important; whether it be right or wrong.

Correct, Liz - and for those who are trying to remove their information (good luck with that), you have now given them your e-mail address, too...

I'm not even listed! I wonder if I should be glad or a little miffed...:confused3

I remember when we were looking for our first house, they used to post the sold prices, buyer, seller and address. This was in Ohio. When we were house-hunting here, I bought the newspaper to try and get an idea of what they were going for, what was normal. I bought a weeks worth of papers and scoured it, no luck. Indiana does not (or at least my county or the other we were looking in) post that information. In Ohio they also used to give banks and credit unions mortgage loan rates, heloc, etc. They don't do that here either.

I know I can find taxable value/assessed value, but even then it's not what it was bought or sold for.

the only thing right on there is that I love to travel!

Who doesn't??

I would not trust the info on that site for anything.

There was another thread about this a few weeks ago and most people were listed as having a home value of over $1 million. It struck me as strange that everyone seeing the previous thread all had similar home values, what are the odds of that other than if it is just made up. Names and addresses are public record and some people think that makes it seem more viable.

I believe it is a scam to get e-mail addresses so they can sell that info to businesses. Just a thought.

I'm a 65 year old who is still married to my ex husband who is listed as 37 years old (that's correct). It shows that we have two kids living in our home which is valued at 1 million. :rotfl: They didn't get anything right but my address.

Yup.

What I wonder is who is using this type of site to research us?? Potential employers?? Landlords?? Or just nosy neighbors??

No one. No one but people who want to send you physical or electronic junk mail. My neighbors know enough about us to know the people who are supposedly us are not us at all. If your employer wants to know about you they'll run a background check, not look at this website.

Did no one read the links people provided? Read the Snopes article about this.

Why is this on the restaurant board? :confused3 (ETA: Ha, where is my mind today, I'm no where near the Restaurant board :rotfl:)

Ugh I hate these kinds of sites, but I know they didn't get my info from the DIS. I did think it was funny that my house was listed at $1million+...I wish that were true! Haha, not even remotely close. They also think we make a lot more money than we do...I also wish that were true!

Didn't list me but did list my wife. She removed it. Seems our house is worth more than $1 million also.

I wouldn't worry about this particular web site or any other that give "general" hit or miss info. In this day & age anyone can really find out anything/everything and don't need to join a web site service to do so. Have you ever "googled" your name. My DD and DSIL are military people, things are also a matter of public record too, when searching their names it basically gives the history of their lives :scared1: when they got their promotions, their commissions, where they have been stationed, what they do in the service, what marathons they have raced & the placements they achieved where they are presently stationed , ...you get it......its a different world

Don't freak out people!

Most of this information is really easy to find either online or from public records. If you have a name it is beyond easy to find a street address and phone number. From there, public records can get most of the rest.

Don't delete the information. One, there is no reason to, but most importantly you have to give your email address to do so. By doing this you are opening yourself up to a LOT of spam emails. NOT worth it in my opinion...

Besides, no one is going to use a blatantly incorrect web site to find information on you. It has my father listed as a 30 year old child... I am 28... you do the math.

I must fly under the radar too. They didn't have me or my dh listed, even though we own property and have lived at the same address for 15 years.
