We moved to Las Vegas area 26 years ago from the East Coast. We have been to Disney World so many times since the early 80’s with our kids and grandson that one time when our grandson was about 10 years old we said to him “guess where we are going next week” he said “where” and we told him “Disney World” and his response was “AGAIN?”
Well back to the Las Vegas thing, For the first 20 years we have lived in LV, when ever we were going to a Disney property it would only be Disney World. Never even a thought to go to Disneyland even though we are just a 4 hour drive. We heard how small it was and how crowded it was too. 6 years ago my wife and I decided to just take the drive to Disneyland and see what all the west coast people are talking about.
The first thing we did when we arrived was to go on the Ferris Wheel. I remember when we got to the top, looking out and saying to my wife, “this is so small that I can see where the park begins and ends” you don’t see that in Disney World.
Needless to say we had a nice time, yes it was very crowded and pretty small compared to DW but is was a nice get away for three days.
The first night after the parks closed my wife and I headed over to Trader Sams since we were staying in the Disneyland Hotel. We sat at the bar and one minute I was talking to my wife and the people that were sitting around us and the next minute I was almost sitting on the floor since the stool I was sitting on slowly shrunk to the floor, well I have to say we had such a great time there, it was like one big party. We had meet so many people, laughed and had such great conversation with anyone and everyone. We had such a great time there that we still talk about it to this day. There are many attractions that are the same but with a different twist but I have to say it was an enjoyable get away. So I guess I would catagorize it as a get away, while DW is a vacation destination.
Now six years later we have been to Disneyland quite a few times and enjoyed it each and every time.
Next week we get to take our Grandson and his family to Disneyland with us and we will get to see for his first trip to Disneyland the joy in his son, our great grandsons face. He is now 1 1/2 years old and quite the talker so we are excited to see his reaction when he sees all the Disney characters in person. We will be staying for four days at the Grand Californian. We had the pleasure of taking our Great Grandson to the beach and play in the sand for his first time and now we will have the pleasure of his first of many trips to the Disney properties.
I will let you know how it goes.
