You know, it is really hot in florida right now. My car said it was 97 in the studios parking lot yesterday, it felt it, but the weather channel said just 92. It was hot.

The funny thing is that I had my car at the studios parking lot, because we're staying at the beach club. Usually we just walk or boat from here of course. But we wanted one rope drop over there to do the toy story thing, and it is so darn easy to just drive over there, bang. We've gotten so used to walking through that baggage check on the other side that it just seemed to make sense. Melissa rode toy story 4 times, and got on of the daily high scores; our 20-month-old daughter kept wanting to ride it but backing out at the last minute so I only ended up riding it once. We did that by me getting fast passes at opening - return time 9:45, them riding stand by at opening, and getting second fast passes at 9:45 after that first stand by ride, that was three rides right there. We ended up with a baby swap because the little one didn't want to ride so that was the 4th. I wanted to explain that because i didn't want anyone to think it wasn't the typical mad house over there, it was.

The crowds are low to moderate. It is a weird crowd. A typical "May" crowd in the sense that it is the stroller set - a higher percentage of preschool age children than school age. But there are also a lot of eager beaver parents this year. We had breakfast at crytal palace at 8 on Tuesday, and the dumbo dash at park opening at 9 was something to behold. A lot of early risers, and guidebook commandos - for example, five minutes after toon town opened at 10:00, there was a 75 minute wait for tinker bell and the fairies, but a 15 minute wait next to it for the princesses. Fantasyland was packed, but splash mountain was almost walk on - pirates literally was a walk-on, I didn't stop walking until I sat down in the boat. From memory, our family did dumbo, snow white, carousel, peter pan, small world, pooh, barn stormer, the train to frontierland, splash mountain twice, thunder mountain, pirates, jungle cruise, and a late snacky lunch at harbor house, and left the park at 3. Holden was in the mood to ride for some reason and we skipped characters. Some things were crowded, some where not - as long as you could zig when the guide books said to zag, the world was your oyster.

At the studios yesterday, there were a few savvy parents waiting in the the art store at 10:00 to see Mickey, but there weren't many waiting really. Sunday is bolt's last day. Playhouse disney was packed, toy story mania is in full rope drop splender. The evil tower was a walk on at 3:00 in the afternoon. We mostly did characters and toy story mania, with one drop on the tower, that still eludes our five-year-old son who just can't quite seal the deal on getting in there, as much as he wants to. Maybe next week. Yesterday he was all about characters, visiting with sorcer mickey, rhino, mike and sully, buzz ad woody, mater and lightening, et al.

We walked over to epcot a couple of days. Hot. A lot more playgrounds this year for the flower and garden festival. Very low crowds there this week. We mostly saw characters there. There was a surprisingly long line for the disney visa characters - like Christmas holidays long. But shorter than typical lines at the character connection, and really short lines for chip, dale, pooh, etc. Face characters we saw were belle, alice, and mary poppins.

It is very dry. I hope it rains a ton soon.

Had a meal at the cagan crossing China 2, it was good, and at the long horn steak house by the new supper target over by dak, it was fine. I posted some pictures of Kidani, I am looking forward to staying there, it is pretty darn nice.

One nice thing is that we have been walking up to meals. Our 20-month old is sort of hard in restaurants so we'd left that fairly open. Also, we had friends that were planning to meet with us and who had to cancel at the last minute, so our reservations we had were for parties of 13 instead of our families five or six, so we canceled those. We kept the reservation at crystal palace tuesday morning. Besides that, we've had walk-up, sit-right down lunches at tokyo dining, yak and yeti, brown derby, and mama melrose. Of course it isn't free dining time, and those were all lunches, and the dining plan folks are more likelt to have sit down suppers, I figure.

We are going to vero this afternoon for the weekend, and the back to wdw for the week days next week. Five days really flies by when you are having fun. Actually, I guss we started going to parks last Saturday, so six days. I hope it is cooler at the beach, and I am looking forward to a little orchard island pizzeria action. I got a little too much sun at storm along bay and I hope that cools off by the morning for the beach. I got a six pack of hoegardden with my name on it.

Note to self, this sounds like a great time to go!

Thanks for the report! 11 hours until we check in for our SWA flights, 35 hours until we take off for Orlando! I've never been mid-May, so I'm really looking forward to it!

Sounds like you and your family are having a wonderful, low stress time. Good for you. It should be cooler at the beach if you go down by the water. Have a great time at Vero:thumbsup2

Can I ask what time you got the 9.45 fastpasses (toy story)? My boys are 10 and 13...is it for younger kids? They like the Space Ranger Spin at MK. We'll be at the BWV in June so will be spending a lot of time at Epcot and HS.

Thanks.

If they like Space Ranger Spin, they will LOVE Toy Story Mania!!

Thanks for the tips. We'll be there in a little over a week. Sounds like everything "wrong" is right again as far as touring plans....we were planning to follow our traditional approach developed from the unofficial guide years ago, but I'll definitely take a peek elsewhere it seems too crowded where we are. I'm glad to hear about walk up dining. We're hoping to catch a lunch at Sanaa without a reservation, as we'll be staying at Kidani our second week. We'll be staying and eating off site our first week. As I know my parents like Longhorn I'll keep an eye out for it.

Thanks again for the report!

at 9 am rope drop I went and got everyone fp, return time was 9:45; we all rode on standby, and got off about 9:40 - so 5 minutes later we could get another fp.

vero is great

We have been surprised by the lack of crowds until today too. Of course, today the weekend crowds hit, but it wasn't bad until late in the day.

We are suffering from the heat. We're still trying to figure out how to make it out of the room early!

Welcome to the South! We turn the heater on for you folks from up north.

After you go home, we turn it back off, and, the temperatures go back to 70s.
