My DS (15) is great friends with two other boys his same age. Well he just got home from saying goodbye to one of them because he's moving with his family to California tomorrow. They are all pretty sad to have their great friendship split up. Its just one of those things that's part of life but its hard to see a friend go away.

Heck, I'll miss this kid too!

Seperations are tough, Liz. Try to encourage them to keep up with each other via phone, IM, and email. They may see each other again some day. :sunny:

All I can tell you is It does stink. If DS is alright about keeping in touch with people he could have a great penpal here. I wouldn't put anything past a 15 yr old these days to be able to keep in touch with his friend especially with email. But to agree it does stink...

I know it is tough, my father was career Navy. I went to 14 different schools for my 12 years of public education. However, I have friends all over this world. I agree with Dan, have your son keep in contact. As they get older maybe he could visit him some time.

It's so sad when friends move so far away. Hopefully they all have access to computers and they can talk every day.

I hope they will keep up their friendship. Kids are lucky to have email etc. these days. It will be nice for him to have friends he may be able to visit during spring break and vacations. Let him know that they will miss him as much as he will miss them.

best wishes!
