This should scare us all about Palin

Because it has become a witch hunt!

Before the investigation even started, Hollis French (Obama supporter) was bragging about there being an "October surprise" coming for Palin. How is that impartial?

Monegan (the one fired) even said he wasn't told to fire the trooper. His story only changed once his union got involved.

"In the Washington Post interview, Monegan says he was never directly told to fire Wooten by Palin."

agree!

Well, if this is true, it should be interesting...

and for the record, having Sarah Palin as VP doesnt scare me as much as having Obama as President. His completely leftist tendencies scare me most of all.

Agreed. The no experience chant about Palin is amusing. She has experience, moreso than Obama. The funny thing is she doesn't have a straight shot to the #1 seat, Obama does!

My issue is if you keep saying you will do something and then wont it looks bad.
If you keep saying you can PROVE you didnt nothing then whether you think its a witch hunt or not it shouldnt matter. They just want to delay til after the election.

Since that interview, new information about the hearing has come to light. On Sept. 12th, the independent investigator revealed that Hollis French (Obama supporter) was directing who should and should not be subpoened. Hollis also mandated that the investigation completion be moved to before the election. Palin's attorney presented evidence to the chairwoman of the committee (an Obama Dem) regarding the bias of the investigator and requested that he be replaced. She refused. There are legal issues that also need to be addressed, like whether it is even constitutional for the legislature to even be doing this investigation.

Until there is a truly unbiased investigation, then Palin is justified in not assisting this farce.

I find it alarming that some Americans are willing to circumvent justice for political gain.

The ONLY relevant experience she has is 20 months as Governor of Alaska. That might be enough if she had exceptional talent in addition, but we have all heard her speak. She is an IDIOT! And this idiot is going to be one heartbeat away from being the most powerful person on the planet. Utterly terrifying.

Non-cooperation with official investigations is right out of the George W. Bush playbook. Expect the same defiance of our justice system to continue if McSame/Palin get elected.

I'm with you. Before Palin, I wasn't scared of a McCain win in November (I'd be P.O.'d, but not scared). With Palin as running mate, though, this has certainly changed. "Perhaps" she'll declare war on Russia. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

If she didn't do anything wrong - like she has said and also the Mccain camp, why is she not cooperating now?

To me that shows she is trying to hide something and she is guilty.

Let's call a spade a spade.

Why does Obama scare you, Transparent? Can you give me one reason, you don't have to list it on the thread PM b/c you have stated this several times and I've never seen a reason, I also don't want to hijack this thread with it.

So is this not the same group of investigators she said she would work with initially?

I think that is more the question then weather or not they support her campaign for VP....

I don't blame her. I wouldn't want to be involved in this witch hunt. The guy in my opinion got what he desereved for allowing a corrupt cop to stay in the force instead of canning his butt when he should have.

Same here.

I actually like McCain. I was a huge Hillary supporter. After she didn't get the nomination, I was voting for Obama, but I wouldn't have minded all too much if McCain were elected in November.

After picking Palin as his running mate, with his health and age issues, it scares the crap out of me that she would be next in line for President.

I was actually apathetic up to Palin's nomination. I was going to vote for Obama, but wasn't passionate about it. After Palin's nomination, I am fired up and passionate about doing anything and everything I can do to keep her out of office. It is not about McCain, it is the terrifying idea of having Palin one heartbeat away from the presidency that has me out stumping for Obama.

We are in total agreement, although I was not a huge supporter of HIllary. I probably shouldn't admit this, but I voted for Bush in 2004 (what can I say, I still believed in the Iraq war and I thought I should support the President during war time.) Like you, I was pretty apathetic about this race until Palin was chosen. God help us if that "woman" gets anywhere near the White House.

I actually like McCain.

Same here, I've always viewed him as a moderate conservative, and might have voted for him in 2000 if George Bush (who disgracefully trashed McCain's military service) hadn't unseated him as the nominee. I'm vehemently pro-Obama not only because he's an inspirational candidate, but because there has to be an end to the Republican rule that has severely compromised the state of this country.

Their excuse is that it's now a democrat witch hunt. This is untrue.

Yes it is.

The balding man standing fifth from the left in the lineup of self-identified heavily partisan Obama supporters is the lead "TrooperGate" investigator, Democrat State Senator Hollis French.

So while the left keeps saying "Palin is under investigation by a bipartisan state legislative body," that is blatantly untrue.

The full Alaska Legislature did not even vote to authorize this inquiry, it was the Legislature's Legislative Council Committee. But this Legislative Council committee is not conducting the investigation --they handed off that duty to an "independent" investigator, Stephen Branchflower, and gave the task of managing Branchflower to state senator Hollis French.

French is a partisan Democrat lawyer/senator, and it turns out, this investigation has been anything but "independent." French has had his thumb on the scale the whole time, leaking outrageous comments about how the final report would be "damaging to the Governor" and that the Governor "has a credibility problem" prior to the completion of the so-called "independent" investigation and before the Governor has been given a chance to tell her side of the story.

Five Alaska Legislators, Rep. Wes Keller, Rep. Mike Kelly, Rep. Bob Lynn, Sen. Fred Dyson, and Sen. Tom Wagoner, will file suit in state superior court in Anchorage tomorrow morning (9/16/08) at 9:00 am (Superior courthouse 4th Avenue) against Sen. French, Sen. Kim Elton, Stephen Branchflower and the Alaska Legislative Council in order to halt the investigation of Governor Sarah Palin and others because the investigators have lost the appearance of impartiality required under the Alaska Constitution. The Legislators will ask for declaratory and injunctive relief in the investigation, stating that it is an attempt to use the Alaska Legislative Council to further partisan politics.

The Legislators cite in their lawsuit that the investigation into the firing of former Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Public safety Walt Monegan, led by Sens. Hollis French and Kim Elton, with Stephen Branchflower and the Alaska Legislative Council, is being driven by partisan politics in an attempt to unlawfully smear Gov. Palin and others.

“The Partisan actions of Sen. French, Sen. Elton and the Legislative Council have tainted the investigation beyond the appearance of impartiality required under the Alaska Constitution,” said Kevin Clarkson, Esq., of the firm Brena, Bell & Clarkson, P.C., and counsel in the suit.

The investigation, which began after Monegan’s dismissal in July 2008, is being led by outspoken supporters of Barack Obama and members of the Democratic Party. Sen. Elton, the Chair of the Legislative Council donated $2,000 to the Obama campaign but has failed to disclose this to the Legislative Council and he continues to preside over the Council with respect to the investigation, refusing to convene meetings of the Council at the request of a majority of the Council’s membership. Sen. French the investigation “project manager” failed to disclose to the Legislative Council the comments he made on a radio program criticizing the Governor’s conduct regarding the termination of Monegan as “criminal” prior to being appointed as the investigation “project manager” and even prior to a vote to investigate at all. Sen. French also failed to disclose to the Legislative Council that he had a personal bone to pick with the Governor over the Monegan firing because Monegan was a friend and because he had worked closely with Monegan during the 2008 legislative session regarding attempts to include in the state budget items that Governor Palin had vetoed.

I asked earlier, did Sarah Palin tell Charlie Gibson that she was willing to cooperate? If I remember correctly, I think she did. If she did say that last week, was she lying? If not, what changed between now and last week.

Steve, note the following from the story posted on page 2:
Investigator Steven Branchflower admitted he had ceded control of his subpoena list to Sen. Hollis French (D.) during Alaska’s Joint Judiciary Committee September 12 hearing that was scheduled to approve subpoena requests. [CLICK HERE FOR AUDIO.] French is a partisan who has endorsed Palin’s Democratic presidential ticket rival Barack Obama for president and is actively supporting his candidacy.
September 12th was AFTER the Gibson interview. Palin changed her mind after it became clear that some monkey business was afoot and the verdict was being written before the hearings had started.

Non-cooperation with official investigations is right out of the George W. Bush playbook.
And of course Bill Clinton just spilled his guts to Ken Starr, right?
