The McCain campaign is now saying that Sarah Palin will not be cooperating with the Alaskan investigation into her alleged abuse of power while in office. This, after numerous reassurances that she would cooperate fully and had nothing to hide.

Their excuse is that it's now a democrat witch hunt. This is untrue. The panel was convened by a bipartisan Alaskan commission that had more republicans than democrats.

What will happen if she were to become VP and come under investigation for something by a democrat controlled congress? We now know how she would respond. Open and honest wouldn't be it.

The right wing should also worry about this. If she were voted into office and the investigation isn't complete, what could happen then? What if even more wrong doing was discovered? It may be completely innocuous, but we won't know until the investigation is complete. What if she's done something in regards to this incident that would force her to step down as VP? Nancy Pelosi would become VP. That should scare the right wing into making sure all the information is on the table before McCain brings Palin into the VP spot.

You are right, it should scare them, but it won't. They will disregard it. And just going back to all they know to do which is attacking and talking about war.

Funny how this Democratic witch hunt is being run by a majority Republican committee. It is also funny how this investigation was underway before McCain picked her as VP.
Nevermind that, it still must be Obama's fault.

Just so you know - Nancy Pelosi would not become the VP. McCain would choose another VP (like Nixon did when Spiro Agnew left office and Nixon selected Ford).

Nancy Pelosi only become President if both POTUS and VPOTUS die.

What will happen? Nothing! I think the Bush Administration has set precendent on that. Harriet Myers, Karl Rove?

Wow, you're right. I stand corrected. That's even scarier. First it puts them in a position to put someone in the VP position that wasn't truly elected by the public. Second, it should still scare the right wing as I believe they would still need Senate (democrat controlled) approval. This would pretty much guarantee a much more liberal candidate than Palin and more liberal than they would be comfortable with. Of course that's not saying much. Rove may be more liberal than Palin.

We really all should be demanding full discloser.

We should be but will it happen....probably not. I just hope that the people who are looking to the McCain/Palin ticket as agents for change see that the only real changes a McCain/Palin ticket will bring will be on the stationary at the White House.

All this action does is make her look guilty and makes the McCain camp look crazy and paranoid.

Now THAT is something that should be put on a t-shirt!! :thumbsup2

But will they be ALL the emails. There's already documentation that Palin's administration discussed using personal email accounts to conduct official business because they believed that personal email accounts couldn't be subpoenaed.

Here's a really disturbin' matter:

Palin had claimed executive privilege for documents copied to her husband, who is not a state employee, in responding to an open records request in June made by Andrée McLeod, an activist in Anchorage. The administrative appeal filed yesterday by McLeod's attorney, Donald C. Mitchell, argued that by copying Todd Palin on sensitive state correspondence, the governor and her aides shattered the privilege rightly afforded elected officials.

"She has allowed Todd Palin -- who has not been elected by the people of Alaska, who is not a state employee -- to entangle himself apparently as he sees fit in the operations of the executive branch of the state government," Mitchell said.

"From the case law, if government voluntarily opens up that internal decision-making to what I would call civilians, then that is waiver of that protection of the government policy decision-making process. That is what happened here, and it happened because Sarah Palin doesn't understand it," he said.

Didn't Palin admit she didn't know the duties of a VP before McCain chose her?
What was he thinkin'? :sad2:

As an Alaskan I am truly disappointed in Palin for flip flopping on her agreement to fully cooperate with the bi partisan investigation team. It reeks of dark dealings and has since it began.
Walt Monegon is a well respected and well liked member of the Alaskan community and I doubt anything the Palins can dig up on him will be at all dirty, refusing to cooperate just makes Sarah seem guilty of wrongfully firing an excellent employee for personal reasons. The irony is that in order to make this stick to Monegon the Palins will need to get in bed with dirty cops like Wooten in order to fabricate any reason for Monegons dismissal. It terrifies me that Palin may get away with this obvious abuse of power and go on to be Vice President. Yikes!

Wouldn't someone who had nothing to hide cooperate fully with the investigation and put it behind them? This is ridiculous! This is why I didn't like the focus on her parenting early on---She has enough to answer for in regard to her governing, but clearly answering questions is not high on the agenda! Truth and honor have long ago left the Republican campain, in my opinion. I only hope that Americans can see behind their smokescreen of supposed change.

The so-called independent investigator isn't even running the show. Listen to this audio of the hearing when Branchflower says he has to consult with the Dem. French Hollis about the subpoena list. Shouldn't he be able to answer questions about the list if he put it together?

Just like someone says in the audio.......there is something fishy here!!

Fishy for sure. Said gov said she'd cooperate and now says she won't.

Didn't she say last week in the Gibson interview that she would be cooperating? Am I mistaken about that? Because I don't hear anyone on the media calling her out on that.

Fishy for sure. Said gov said she'd cooperate and now says she won't.

Because it has become a witch hunt!

Before the investigation even started, Hollis French (Obama supporter) was bragging about there being an "October surprise" coming for Palin. How is that impartial?

Monegan (the one fired) even said he wasn't told to fire the trooper. His story only changed once his union got involved.

"In the Washington Post interview, Monegan says he was never directly told to fire Wooten by Palin."
