This PIN is costing me a fortune!

I knew promos had limited rooms available but didn't realize PIN codes did too. I thought I'd use my 40% and try deluxe. Problem is all left was upgraded views and club level. I mean it's nice and all, I just feel like I'm not really saving since I'd normally not do those things.

Why don't you do a moderate then? I am staying 8 nights/9 days and the 30% saved me over $400

I priced deluxe with my 30/35/40 and could only get club level as well. I decided to go with moderate, which we love anyway.

I guess I'm an extremist. To me the moderates don't offer enough perks to pay that much extra than values. Plus the girls and I have longed to try the Poly, stay on the monorail, and BC.

I feel your pain.;) I'm still shocked that entire price levels at the GF and CR are sold out more than six months prior to when we're trying to go! :scared1: But we figured that this may be our only opportunity to do a deluxe. We don't go to Disney that often, my mom is getting older, pins are random, plus we're celebrating that hopefully I won't die in Liberia before November. So even though there were only theme park views left at the Grand Floridian, we booked it. We don't need a theme park view because we like the view from inside the theme park, but it makes us both happy to be in the GF. And even though we love POFQ as a moderate, once we got the pin, it was opening Pandora's box and we couldn't stuff the idea of the GF back in. But I'll say that the Mouse really knew he was doing giving us a pin

So I say 'don't worry, be happy' :hippie:

I would keep calling back and checking for a standard view then. You just never know. You might get lucky.

We usually stay deluxe, but the reason I think mods are worth the extra cost over a value and the reason I would choose a mod over a 'deluxe with an expensive view,' is that I need to see lush grounds and a tranquil setting that the mods offer (not tons of concrete at the values) in order to really enjoy a vacation.

I would keep calling back too. When I got my PIN on Monday, I called to apply it to my standard room ressie at the BC from Aug 6-12 and it was $400 less. Of course I asked (just for giggles) what it would cost to have the same ressie on Club Level and it was only $160 more than my original booking using the 40% off PIN, so I said what the heck & booked it. Now I'm OCDing like a madwoman and can only post on here about it as I'm keeping it a secret from DH & the boys (the CL part that is :-) ) But a lady on another thread kept calling and got what she wanted with her PIN, so don't give up.

I hear you, but at least you're getting a great deal on your view! Mostly, I just wanted to say that I love your "itsreally4mommy" name! It would suit me just fine, too!

Aw, thanks everyone. You're really putting my mind at ease. (for a few minutes at least, LOL)
I suppose if I were to ever do this, then it's only feasible w/the PIN. I'll keep trying like you suggested.

Oh and glad there are "others" who understand my name and what it's like to be the OCDis'er of the family.

I posted on another thread a week or so ago that it seems most people who are trying to use the pin at a deluxe are offrered only the most expensive rooms...I know I was.
Like you, I wanted to try club level for my December trip and could only get the highest priced views/locations. I ended up going with a standard at Poly instead.
You're at least the fifth person I've read had this same issue.

I used it to book a standard room at the Poly from 8/28-9/4, so there are rooms available. Perhaps you could try a different travel period? :confused3

Good luck! :goodvibes

I don't think that Disney is purposefully locking people with PIN codes out of the cheaper rooms. I even checked the availability of the CR and GF on someone else's computer who hasn't been to Disney in years and there's no way Disney knows that I'm in Liberia with him. The cheapest rooms available were theme park view or club level standard for both. I really think that CR and GF are just sold out on the cheaper end which isn't too surprising and is probably the case for other resorts.

I keep telling myself that since we can afford it with the PIN we should do it, because it will probably never be cheaper than 40% off and we would never do it without 40% off. Though checking back to see if something else becomes available, ie someone cancels, is a great idea if you really don't want the room you have. :cloud9:

I tend to think that Disney is holding back a ton of rooms for the fall rather than them being sold out. I doubt they are sold out for September but have availability for the summer months.

Well I know for sure that all rooms aren't in the pool for PINs, AP or GP discounts. We had the 40% PIN and tried to book 2 standard rooms at WL for the first week of Feb the day we got the PIN, well, no standards at all for the timeframe so we booked 2 Woods view at 40% off. When the AP discount came out I checked every day for that as well as the PIN and GP discounts-nothing for standard or even 45% off (ap discount ) for my dates and we were going in a slow season supposedly. Well, I would also check for the giftcard offer or no discount and yes, Standard rooms as well as Woods view both available, so never a standard at WL for the first week of Feb with those 3 types of offer- AKL was avail for AP at 45% off standard just to advise.

it is probably your chosen travel time.

Two days ago I was able to book standard view at the wilderness lodge for the end of August/ beginning of September.

We got the same pin in February and switched from WL bunk bed room to BC standard view so we could be able to walk to Epcot and HS which is where we spend most of our time plus wonderful SAB. We are going Sept 11-18th. I called about 2 weeks ago, and asked what the cost was to switch to lagoon/pool view, it was only $180 more total so I switched. :dance3: Then i was toying with the idea of switching to CL and they had all levels of CL available but it didn't make sense for our family since we are doing Dlx Dining and have all our ADRs set and could not justify another $600. We are saving $1268 with the pin over rates on WDW site so I am so happy as is DH. ;) As others have said, i think it depends on the time of year you are going and if specials have already been released. Good Luck.

I just booked a short stay at the Poly for Nov 9-13 with a bounceback offer and all that was available was TPV, quite pricey even with pin code, but I booked it for the location and ease of monorial. I will keep checking back to see if any lagoon room or gardenview rooms become available.

Hmmm well Disney may have tricked us into paying them more by first giving us a pin and then only offering us the TPV at GF, but I find it hard to be mad at them when my mom and I are only getting more excited about staying there and my mom is even getting really excited about the TPV so at this point I doubt she'd switch. With the 40% off, it's not a price that we wouldn't pay for a nice resort elsewhere and it puts us closer to MK, so we're still happy. :cool1:

I actually was looking for club level at Animal Kingdom Lodge in December but could only get pool view the dates we wanted...no savannah view was even available...i think it just depends when you are traveling
