Ok...so my sister and some of our friends and I are doing the Disney Half-Marathon...

We are staying at the Contemporary...

We know we can take the monorail to the start at Epcot but the question is...

How far is the Pluto Parking lot from the Contemporary...will we be able to walk back? or Monorail? Or should we just take a cab??

I told ya this one would be tough...LOL

Well, compared to the length of a half marathon, the Pluto Parking lot is not too far away. However, after running a half marathon, you may not really be in the mood for more walking.

If I'm remembering correctly, the Pluto lot is CM overflow parking, located between the Contemporary and the monorail "barn" ... I'm thinking about half a mile from the driveway for the Contemporary, but it could be less than that.

I dunno how far Pluto is from Contemporary, but I would think Disney would have some of the parking lot trams running people back to the TTC so they can catch busses or monorails to thier resorts. I mean, if they're not doing that, they sure should!

Pluto parking lot across the tram lane from the Goofy section (i.e. when they stop the tram going back to your cars, Pluto is usually on the driver's right and Goofy on the left) in the MK main parking lot. IMO, your best bet would be getting on the monorail back to the Contemporary via either the TTC or the Polynesian. There will be lots of CMs and race volunteers around at the finish so they will be able to direct you to where you need to be.

Last year we did the full but that ended in Epcot so it we ended up taking a cab back to the Beach Club... (too far and way tooo sore to walk!)

I'm sure there were busses to take us back we just didn't see them...

I just wonder if is the same distance to walk to the monorail as to the hotel...

Oh...they do have busses for the marathon participants and spectators.

One of the reasons we wanted to stay at the Conteporary for the 1/2 was because we could take the monorail to the start and the close proximity to the finish line...but now I am wondering how far a distance it will actually be from the finish back to the hotel...

The 1/2 marathon ends in the MK parking lot nearest the road that leaves from GF and Shades of Green (kind of in the area opposite the Polynesian). There are tons of buses that will take the runners back to Epcot, and then back to resorts. Or you can walk over to the monorail and get back to the monorail resorts, or go over to the MK and get a bus or boat from the MK back to your resort. You can't walk from Pluto Parking lot to CR.

We took the boat over to MK, then another boat back over to WL last year.

Oops, my previous post is somewhat accurate, but not entirely. There are 2 Pluto parking lots. One of them is in the main TTC area, the other one is on the road that you follow to get to the Contemporary, past the CR, but before the Monorail Barn. The one near the CR is within walking distance, but is not the Pluto lot that the half marathon ends at. The end point (TTC) wouldn't be within walking distance.
