This might be a dumb question but...

:confused3 My wp/wc sent me our officiant's contact info and seems to be presuming that I will get in touch with him. I have read good things about him (Rev. Tim) here but I am not sure what I am supposed to say when I contact him. I know I specifically told my w/p that I am Christian and that we want it to be a fairly swift ceremony... Do I just get in touch with him to tell him that too? Any thoughts on Rev. Tim? What is his personality like? THANKS AGAIN:love:

I called Rev. Tim and he acted like it was totally wierd that I was calling him. Needless to say I did not call again. I think they perfer that you contact them via e-mail.

OMG thanks for letting me know! I am so NOT GOOD with akward situations....I always just make them worse. T/y 4 the heads up...I was going to call him tomorrow:scared1: . Not to be too invasive but what kind of things are you going to tell him? If i'm too nosy, let me know;)

Email him... that's what I did and he signed me up and sent me the agreement via email. I printed out and sent him a check and that was that. He's nice, but very short on emails, don't take it personally. Everyone I've talked to loves him and loves what he does on the wedding day...

I don't know much about Rev. Tim except that Lynn had him and loved him. It would be great if the wedding planners worked with the officients (if they are on the list of preferred vendors). It makes me nervous. I am scared they won't show up or something...lol.

But in response to your question, I have heard nothing but good things about Rev. Tim.

I actually had a very negative experience with him and ended up choosing Pastor Sigfried Jaeger a couple of days before we left. Pastor Sig was great and I highly recommend him. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1539814

As for what to say, I just emailed everybody and explained I was having a Disney wedding, gave them the date, told them what kind of ceremony I wanted, etc. Good luck!

sorry you had a bad experience....

Yup! :thumbsup2 I would do email. We emailed our officiant "JoAnn P." and started by telling her we are having a disney destination wedding and asked if she was available for our date and time. After she said she was, we went on to describe what sort of ceremony we were hoping for, in our case - we wanted something simple and non-denominational. She wrote up an example ceremony and emailed it to us for suggestions.

HTH

I contacted him for our wedding. He was very inflexible about us writing our own ceremony, which was important to us. It took a while to find someone who was willing to let us, actually. We eventually went with Rev. Miller. He was very nice, if a little odd at times.

Well when I called I wanted to just get a jist of his personality and I asked him to tell me a little about his services and I asked him if it would be a problem to marry a couple who lived together, telling him that I work in a church and I would understand that some people have reservations about that sort of thing. But before i even mentioned that we live together he was just real short about everything...I then called Rev. Knox and booked him. I'm sure this guy is great at what he does and lots of brides have been very impressed. But, first impressions really are important especially for a reverend. :confused3

I have Rev. Miller - why do you say he's odd? I'm just concerned because I haven't heard from him in months! My wedding is in less than 2 months and I email him and he doesn't respond. Is that normal?

If you go to Tiggerific's post where she links you to her problems with an officiant, you will see what Ember said as well.

By the way, I hope wedding planning is going great for you :goodvibes

WOW this was some story.. I am glad you solved it and I am glad it worked out for the best!!

I have Reverand Jack. He is great. He sends you some suggested ceremonies that you can add, delete, change, whatever you want. He is slow in getting back to you but I just figure he is a busy guy. He does get back to you eventually. The whole reverand thing actually has me nervous. I am terrified that I will do something wrong and he won't show up!!!
