and I apologize, but I am curious:

Is there a use year that is the BEST use year to have? And, if so, why? And, would you pay more for that contract through resale?

Thanks.

Use year is the month that your points are renewed each year. It is also the determining factor for banking points. For example you can bank up to 100% of your points into the next use year if you do it by the end of the 6th month (counting your use year month as the first month).

Use year is really only important if you have to cancel a reservation. When you cancel a reservation prior to 31 days before your arrival, the points return to the current use year. If you cannot use (or rent) the points before the end of your current use year, you will lose the points unless you can bank them.

For example, if your use year is August and you have to cancel your November vacation, you have until the end of January to bank all or some of the points or you may reschedule your vacation anytime until the end of the following July.

If your use year was February and you had to cancel that same November vacation say in September, you could only bank up to 50% of the points (as long as you did it by the end of October) or you would have to use the points by the end of the following January.

Use year only matters if you have to cancel a vacation. Hopefully, that will not happen at all or happen only rarely. If you tend to vacation at the same time of the year, it may benefit you to have a use year a few months prior to that. However, your vacation habits may change over the next 40 years.

If I were buying resale, I would look for the best deal at the home resort I preferred and not be very concerned about use year.

I WOULDN'T worry about USE YEAR unless you're convinced that you'll travel to WDW over the same month(s) for the next 40 years!!!!!!!!! As DVC members we have already stayed at BWV for 5 different months........

I guess my questions were more of a standpoint of a seller than a buyer, since I am already a DVC owner.

When I was on the Timeshare website they had variances in prices from $60 to $70, and I was curious as to why. I guess that's where my questions came from.

So, if I were to sell my share, I would like to get the $70 going rate versus the $60, and wondered if use year played into that at all.

I think I found my answer, however, and based on banked points or no points available at time of sale, that could make a difference in what someone would be willing to pay per point.
