This may be silly but I am trying to decide if mom and I would enjoy the princess meal in Norway. We have done character meals before but only the furry ones. I want to meet Belle (she is the only one I haven't met in the past 4 trips! I know it's not for certain she will be there.) but I don't want to compete with tons of screaming little "princeses". Plus mom doesn't want to give up a TS credit for crap food.
SO..opinions? Suggestions? Other options?
Thanks in advance for anything you can tell us!

You can be certain Bell in her Gold gown is there and you are also gareenteed a beautiful Photo with her and you and/or your party. Its part of the meal cost:goodvibes

We like the food in Norway. It is a small buffet as buffets go but it is quite different. I think most people like or hate the food here because it is different from the norm but thats kinda the point in Epcot. The rooms are beautiful too. The Characters come to you so no screaming kid thing and You go up and Meet Bell 1 group at a time as you get your picture with her upon arriving in the Castle.

ENJOY:thumbsup2

As far as meeting Belle goes, it's pretty much guaranteed that you will meet here at Akershus. She is the one that the photo is taken with as you enter. The meal comes with a free photo package, which is pretty nice. There is a line to have your photo taken before you are seated..so there's no competing.

We've only been for breakfast and the food was good. It's nothing spectacular, but it's good. The hot food is served family style, but you can get as much as you want and there's a buffet of fruits and pastries.

Belle usually is the one there to take photos. She has been the one the 3 times we went. We really liek the food there. Although they sound strange, it's really not that bad. I would go even without my DDs as a matter of fact that's the only restaurant DH requested.

we did the breakfast because my DH was totally not convinced he'd like the dinner or lunch menu. Breakfast was fantastic. And it was one of the best character experiences that we had. It's very controlled, not at all loud and crazy. You get a WONDERFUL picture package w/ Belle (that comes w/ your meal price) and the other princesses go table to table. It is one of our new "must do" restaurants.
Have fun !!! :yay:

I say go! Belle has been there every time I've gone, and I think the food is decent, though I actually prefer the breakfast there to lunch or dinner. The potatoes at breakfast are amazingly yummy.

I've been to Belle's home twice, once for breakfast and once for dinner. Dinner was just ok, but breakfast was FABULOUS!!! I would do it again in a heartbeat. You get Belle to yourself before you are seated, and then 4 or 5 other princesses come to your table and hang out for a few. Very controlled, beautiful ambiance, great breakfast!

I have to tell you all that there is NO guarantee Belle will be there! The last TWO times I was there (including February) it was Sleeping Beauty that was taking pics at the front and Belle wasn't even there for us. We had Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Jasmine, Cinderella and Ariel.

BUT... I am sure you will enjoy it! :thumbsup2

What is Belles home? Are you talking about Akershus in Norway? That isn't Belle's home. She is from France. And I said above... Belle isn't always there.

I have it booked to do with my mom for our upcoming trip (along with Tusker House). My mom loves the characters and this is one she hasn't done yet. I took my niece a couple of years ago and it was one of her favorite meals. We had Belle as a greeter and then saw Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Mulan and Jasmine. I thought the food was very good. There's a small buffet and the hot food is served family style.

We have done this as breakfast and dinner, we prefer the breakfast. :)

when we were at CRT in Feb, Belle was there. ( she had her blue dress on). that meal (dinner) was fantastic!!

Definitely go to Norway to see Belle, everytime we have been there she was the one taking the picture in her gown (when we go in May it will be our 6th time dining at Akershus). Also, I would suggest going for breakfast and also to try and get an ADR for before the park opens. This is what we do, because you can then get really great pictures of WS or even SE before the crowds come rolling in. Also, that early in the morning it is a bit quieter, however it is pretty quiet to begin with. Have fun.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I think we are going to book dinner on a Thursday! :thumbsup2
I'm excited to try something new plus getting to meet Belle!
Thanks again

We did breakfast there twice with our nieces and enjoyed it but we wouldnt do it with just the 2 of us because the food was nothing to get excited about, good but not to die for

We did lunch there on our last trip. I will say- it felt sooooo much more chaotic than CRT. In fact, that's my fear with us doing Akershus for breakfast on our upcoming trip. There were a lot of small children at both, but since the princesses take the kids around the restaurant at Akershus and it goes on for about 5 min, it might bother your mother if she's not up for tons of little princesses princess:. We were there for our girls and it was heaven to us, but it was a ton of kids parading around for a while.

As for Belle, she was there in her yellow dress when we went, but I've read a handful of stories about off days when Belle was not there. I've seen pics of days when Aurora or Ariel have taken her place. The odds of Belle being there are still in your favor.

As for food quality- it's a toss up. I liked my food better at CRT, but DH's food was better at Akershus. Of course, if you do CRT (and it sounds like you're doing DDP), you're looking at 2 credits and if you get Belle there, you'll see her in her blue dress (I've heard the yellow dress is too big for the CRT dining room structure). Of course, CRT is a better bang for your buck to pay OOP...then again, not even sure if you're considering it as an alternative.

Auroa was our greeter too. Belle was in her blue dress when we went. the food was ok, I haven't booked it again for this trip.

I really liked my last meal at Akershus. It was the mushroom pasta dish and was probably one of my favorite meals from my whole trip. See if anything on the menu appeals to you

There would be no competing for Belle since it's the picture up front. And I've found that in most places, when they are at your table it is your turn. Occasionally some kid will run in and interrupt, but that could happen at any character meal.

I really like Akershus. I've been debating including it when I travel there with my mother, but my biggest concern is the noise level in the restaurant for her.

My mom (78), my daughter (21), and I went last July for breakfast. We got our picture taken with Belle and were greeted by all the princesses. It was fun. The food, on the other hand, was not to our liking. We are heading to Disney again this July and we did not book Akershus. We are going to our favorite breakfast character meal, Crystal Palace, with Pooh and friends.

We went last Friday for breakfast and it was really nice. I would say go. We got a very sweet picture of Belle with my daughters. But, there were several adult only groups too. The children all around us were well behaved and reasonably quiet, perhaps because it was early and they were well rested? The princesses were all very engaging. Our waiter was efficient and friendly. We got in on time and were out right about when the park opened.

I thought the food was simple, but good. The potato casserole was very good. They also had beautiful berries, and pastries that I didn't try - but my daughters liked. My favorite was the bagels - I know silly - but they had very good dill cream cheese, lox, and capers - yum!

We went to see Belle for breakfast on our last trip and very much enjoyed the experience. The food was enjoyable, there was great character interaction with all the princesses, and the photo package was a great add in too.

We are going to be there for lunch on Tuesday after Easter and looking forward to the experience, from the food to the character interaction. We enjoy the variety of food flavors throughout Epcot and agree that is the point of it all. Try something out of your comfort zone - most of the time, it will be more familiar than all the worry leading up to it...:)
